If people don't know how to start, forum mafia games often start with a "RVS" or random voting stage, where you vote with random reasons until there's a decent amount of material to analyze.

You can change your vote as much as you want.

@everyone: you COULD reveal what creatures you are, but I would advise against it. The information of who is what creature will likely help the mafia much more than it will help the town, since the mafia have been provided with safe claims.
