Spoiler for How to Play Mafia:
Mafia is generally played between two teams: Civilians and Mafia. The civilians are the main group, and they enjoy the advantage of being a majority. Every day, the civilians post in the thread to discuss who is likely to be mafia, and place a vote on who they think is being scummy (a.k.a. mafia-like or anti-civilian). One thing to note is that your Voting Total signifies the total of votes placed on you, and Voting Power stands for how many votes you actually place on someone when you vote on them (everyone has a standard Voting Power of 1). At the end of the day the host tallies up all the votes and considers all skills affecting the voting; the person with the most votes on them is killed (termed as lynching), and all their info is revealed. Then Night falls...

That’s when the mafia come in. The Mafia are a minority of players who know each other’s identity. Their job is to eliminate all the other players using deception and Nightkills. They interact with the town during the day, trying to mislead them away from lynching any mafia members. When night falls, Mafia discusses in secret and chooses a person to kill (termed as Nightkill). Also during the night the civilians use their roles. The two most noteworthy roles that are usually included in some form are the cop, who investigates other players to find their allegiance, and the medic, who can protect a specific player from any Nightkills for that night.

The Civilians win when they manage to eliminate all the Mafia members. Mafia wins when their combined Voting Power is enough to control the vote entirely, i.e. if all Mafia members vote on the same Civilian and all Civilians vote on a Mafia member, the Civilian will be lynched.

General Mafia Rules

1.   Do not post, chat, OR PM ANY revealing information if you have been killed/removed from this mafia. You are allowed one death post that contains no information or commentary about the players.

2.   You are not allowed to edit or remove your post. Instead, EBWOP will take effect. This means you must post again with the correct fixes.
3.   Directly quoting or providing proof in any way of any PM sent by the host will result in an instant modkill and referral to the FGO.
4.   You are not allowed to directly quote any PM sent by another player, unless you are quoting it to a fellow mafia member confirmed by the host.
5.   You are not allowed to request to be modkilled in the thread. If you PM the host requesting to be modkilled, the host must find a substitute or modkill you at the end of the phase.
6.   All players' actions should be primarily motivated by winning the game. Throwing the game or outing your teammates for no strategic value is not allowed.
7.   The host has the final say in any dispute. Do not impersonate the host.
8.   Any flaming/trolling will not be tolerated.
9.   Players' actions should be motivated by this game's events solely. You may look at past mafias to determine behaviors for better reads, but keep personal affairs out of the game.
10. Anything said within the context of the game, including promises, bets, etc, stays within the game. Players can lie, deceive, and manipulate, (but not cheat) in any way they like. Slander within the context of the game is usually not meant as a personal offense.

Breaking any of the above rules may result in a modkill as determined by the host, or a ban from future mafias or forum games in general as determined by the Forum Game Organizer.

The Dreamers

In this sacred temple stood the Slumbering Oracle. Gifted with the ability to see into the future she has lead us through this temple through profound success. Kings of all come to visit her for guidance, and the world is at peace. In the realm of dreams however, where the Oracle spends most of her days, a terrible power awaits. It eats away at the minds of the weak, and devours the hungry. The Nightmare claims many, but never before has it lead such a direct attack. The Oracle cannot be sired, and our number dwindle as the nightmares pick us off one by one in our sleep. It seems to have taken hold of some of our members, we must rid ourselves of these husks, these people who were once our friends cannot be trusted. Once we purge the temple, order will be restored and the oracle will guide us back into the light.

RULES:

Spoiler for Hidden:
1.   The game will start on Night 0, which will be followed by Day 1. Phases will be a minimum of 48 hours.
2.   Only the last PM sent from the Mafia stating the Nightkill will be counted. The mafia kill cannot be roleblocked.
3.   If the lynch is tied, No Lynch will occur.
4.   You are allowed to vote for No Lynch.
5.   Town wins if all the mafia are dead. Mafia wins if they achieve parity at the beginning of a day. (If mafia are unable to be lynched.)
6.   Phases will not end until both the timer has ended and there has been 5 minutes since the last vote. If any sort of endless voting loop occurs that affects the lynch, there will be No Lynch. The day will be ended at the host's discretion if there is any vote swapping trolling/juggling.
7.   Communication outside the thread is forbidden UNLESS you are a nightmare, in which case, you may communicate during the nightphase Via Pirate pad.
8.   I reserve the right to make any changes to the roles or rules in order to maintain the integrity and balance of the game, and make sure nobody breaks it.




PRIMARY ROLES:

Dreamers
Your main goal is to kill all Mafia in the game. This is done by using the lynch system.
There are also several power roles for the dreamers, listed below. These roles may repeat, but are not obligated to, or to repeat in a specific way.
Insomniac (EoR) You avoid all targeting tonight.
"Sleep is a luxury few can afford."

Dreamer (EoR)You learn if a target player is a nightmare or not.
"A prized pupil, the Oracle gave you sight when you were blind. Now it is you who leads the blind back to the light."

Temple Guard (EoR) Wake a player up and save them from the nightkill tonight.
"Guard duty used to be a boring afterthought. Now it is a necessity."

Dream Interpreter (ER) Learn who targeted a target player tonight. 
"Keep a journal by your bed, and you'll never forget what you dream."

Nightmares
Your main goal is to achieve parity. This is done via Nightkill. Each mafia member that performs a nightkill will have a One Time Use Passive effect. They will be listed below. Additionally, the mafia may communicate via a piratepad ONLY during the nightphase.
Fear of Death - Your target dies, no matter what.
"Fear the bitter end"

Fear of Pain - All roles are blocked for the current night, and their cooldowns reset.
"Fear the ache in your bones"

Fear of Deceit - All information revealed during this night, and the next day, is a lie, or inherintly false. Correct information is revealed once Deceit is killed
"Fear the words on their lips"

Fear of Nothingness - The nightkill target ceases to exist. They are informed they are dead and that they may not post any more, nothing is revealed.
"Fear that you are forgotten"

Note: The Deceit Passive use will not cause the nightkill target to appear mafia.

Some questions:

1. What is the role priority? Example: Player A uses Insomniac ability N1 and Mafia sends NK with Fear of Death 1U modifier -- what happens? Temple Guard vs. Fear of Nothingness?? etc.

2. Why is Dream Interpreter phrased differently - Would it be more clear as "Identify a target in the dream world, you learn who targeted them that night."? Or maybe I am not understanding what the role is doing...?

3. Can you very clearly indicate if the NK is a group-action or specific-player action? It seems implied by some of the abilities but last game this was a bit of a sore point for a few players that I think bears being clear BEFORE the game starts.

4. I may find more things to ask as I read and digest more...

1. Priority added, roleblocking/role circumventing I thought would imply they took priority, but its true, its best to keep things stated as openly as possible.

2. I cut the fluff for it right now, I'll add it again later above/below the role, for now though i'll make them as too the point as possible for ease of fast reading. Fluff will come though as an addition later.

3. I just added that as a note, and, to reiterate here, I believe unless requested ahead of time by the mafia players (the mafia players have to agree to allow their actions to be controlled by others before I will allow them to be controlled) The person who sends in the kill should be the one preforming the kill. To make things even more clear/straightforward, i'll ask the mafia players at the start if they would like their actions to be controlled by the other mafia members when needed. As a player and as a host, I dont like that it hinders personal choice and lets one player really take the wheel of the mafia team, but it seems many players like it so I included a method for them to do it now.

Parity, but voting majority is the easiest to understand for people who aren't feircely into the game, objectively, the only difference is an extra night, which in this case, it is impossible for the town to preform a kill during the night. Was just trying to use simpler to understand wording

Mafia being able to send their teammates to act out the Nightkill is an FGO ruling and cannot be overridden by hosts.

Also, the rules currently state that the Nightkill is factional.
