So you see, I have this magical hidden list of everyone. I call it the "People who aren't Rob or Linkcat that need to die" list; Because all the doctor roles always hit Rob and Linkcat, I just avoid them and focus on the equally talented people just below them. The fact that Rob was a useful idiot for the first day also meant he was fine to keep alive (Given his post count, I regret this)
UTA is near the top of that list. KDZ is at the very top because he has an eerie ability to understand what the hell I'm doing, but ridding him instantly could've drawn suspicion to me because of that q.q
I just got rng'd at the end, though.
Fair enough, and I imagine -I- would also be on this list, even though my mafia skills are pretty shoddy overall.
...[snip]
There's a lot of funny things that happened throughout the days, but I'll reveal them if people ask only.
Reveal the funny business.
Very well then.
KEY:
Team Name/Color
Player Name - Player Secondary Role (Secondary Role NAME for Intel)
Criminal Team:- dawn to dusk - Refugee (Cult Leader)
- Espithel - Observer (Anime Cosplayer)
- fabian771 - Jailor (Elephant Tamer)
- Lunaris - Student (Fortune Teller)
All of the secondary role names of the Criminal teams were relatively 'random' enough when I made them. I didn't want to make any of the names have particularly positive or negative connotations, although dawn's 'Cult Leader' secondary role was going to be added regardless of whatever team the Cult Leader would be on, simply because it was one of the first five names I came up with as a homage to Eldritch.
Mafia, in this particular game, felt very uncoordinated, and I was somewhat disappointed in them using their abilities to their fullest extent,
especially as Lunaris could have copied multiple abilities from her own teammates to increase her viability and volatility for end game purposes.Intelligence Team:- killsdazombies - Doctor (Nurse)
- mathman101 - Hitman (Assassin)
- worldwideweb3 - Officer (Detective)
For the Intel team, secondary role names were essentially synonyms (or 'substitutes'), for two reasons. The first was simplicity, since I didn't want to make the game TOO hard for other Intel players to guess the role of their teammates.
The second reason was due to theme; I imagined that anyone working for a so called third-party 'alphabet agency'/FBI wouldn't fuck around when it came to professionalism, and thus, I gave very direct names to KDZ, math, and www3 to reflect that. If they had gotten other secondary roles, I would have easy replacements: Politician->Diplomat, Jailor->Sheriff, Observer->Spy, etc.
Sad they couldn't find each other until Night 3, where they both targeted each other. x)Town Players:- Coffeeditto - Bodyguard (MMA Fighter)
- ddevans96 - Hitman (Pharmacist)
- DoubleCapitals - Bodyguard (Electrician)
- godisnowonline - Jailor (Judge)
- iancudorinmarian - Merchant (Improv Teacher)
- JonathanCrazyJ - Doctor (Massage Therapist)
- Linkcat - Officer (Male Escort)
- rob77dp - Merchant (Fisherman)
- Solaris - Politician (Sombra)
- Submachine - Observer (Highway Patrol)
- UTAlan - Refugee (Celebrity Model)
Finally, the Town secondary role names were quite a mix and took the longest to create.
The very first name I was going to add to the game (regardless of who received it or whatever role that came with it), was Male Escort, and I'm quite happy that the player who received it (Linkcat) loved it.
Likewise, JCJ got the 2nd name, 'Massage Therapist' the moment I came up with it - I was careful not to go too far into the 'spicy' zone...
Many of the names had varied and were on a spectrum from-
being relatively vague [Celebrity Model],
to deliberately misleading [Pharmacist],
to being completely direct [Judge],
to even being tailored for specific players [Sombra for Overwatch-playing Solaris].
Other secondary role names I was planning to include were (depending on the circumstances...):
Pole Dancer, Mall Santa Claus, Serial Killer, Dentist, Accountant, Potato Farmer, Exhibitionist, Scuba Diver, Witch, Veterinarian, Tumblr Blogger, Professional Ninja Warrior, Spokesperson, Data Miner, Hacker, Exotic Stripper, Werewolf, Asylum Worker, and Refrigeration Manufacturer.
Who knows what I would come up with next time if I ever get to host this type of mafia again?
For added information, in no particular order:
- Clever use of rob77dp breadcrumbs to reveal his role as a Merchant. mathman101 trying to show himself up as third party. I found these pretty hilarious on the first day, too bad no one noticed it methinks...
- As you all very well know, UTAlan used Refugee ability 2 (Idol Immunity), which caused Espithel's death by reflecting the night kill back to him. Looking in a more retrospective manner, we can see several hints of him trying to get the mafia to night kill him, which I found both hilarious and disappointing for the mafia to target him.
- Linkcat getting outrageous with No Lynch/No Vote was also silly.
- killsdazombies (as the last remaining Intelligence member) was trying to drop hints about how the Intel team should cooperate with either the Town or the Mafia - good thing someone picked up on it (?)
- NIGHT 2 WAS AN ABSOLUTE TARGETING ******** ONTO UTA'S ****. gino, ian, JCJ, and rob all used their abilities on him, which failed, because Refugee negates targeting with ability 1. This happened also on Night 3 while he was being blocked off by CoffeeDitto's Bodyguard Ability 1.
- Neither Merchant (ian and rob) used their 'ability 1' on anyone, so no extra abilities were given out. Boring and quite frustrating, since I thought those two would try to spice up the game even more. -_- (If either one of you target Linkcat's Male Escort role, I would have been adding even more risque names...) Also, no Observers used their Ability 1 successfully.
- Student and Politician were not duplicated simply because of RNG. However, this also prevented "redirection chains" which would have been absolute chaos in the case of Politician. Student was the last role added and was probably the most unusual, but also the most dangerous had Lunaris used ability 2 on key players to 'copy' abilities and use them for more nefarious reasons (FOR EXAMPLE: the Jailor role's abilities, which she could have copied from fabian771 on Night 1...)
- Linkcat used ability 2 on ddevans96 Night 1, and killsdazombies on Night 2, but because of precedence, Linkcat never found out about KDZ's role. In retrospect, I should have allowed that specific 2U ability to create a titanpad between the Officer role and its target, so as to create 'circles of information' given the lack of outside communication, but alas, it's been a while since I hosted.
- fabian771 was never targeted by Jailor ability 2. He faked it, and, in order to prevent a modkill WHILE ALSO DENYING THE POSSIBILITY of him lying about being targeted (or even using the ability on himself!), I made the somewhat famous post that prolonged his death, but in the end, it was fitting that mathman101 would kill him as the assassin of Intel.
- Intel managed to get 12/18 role ability names. UTAlan, godisnowonline, rob77dp, Coffeeditto, Submachine, and, ironically, Solaris (even though he revealed his role early on) were the ones that evaded ability name leakage.
- Insert drama in the thread that made some people want to leave. Not naming names for the sake of tact.
I would post more, but I think this is getting too long as it is and I'll try to share more specific thoughts if you guys have more specific questions. ^^;;;
Thank you to everyone who participated, and let's keep this post-game discussion friendly, okay?
