I'm not sure who bussed espi, but it is possible it may have been UTA. I still townread him; also, 'this' refers to Espi dying, and UTA could be bodyguard, refugee or bussing maf.

Mafia NKing one of their own N1 would be an extremely bold gambit, provided it's even allowed - typically it would not be, and while these rules don't explicitly disallow it I would always assume it as implied.
