Mass roleclaiming is bad. Being able to PM people is awesome (unless sub goes mental
)
Basically i used to love blab chatting to one person at a time. getting personal scumtelling, and being able to make much more intricate gambits. Doing everything in thread just makes me not want to post because mafia can see through things. If someone comes up with a plan, it can't be implemented without mafia seeing it. If a power role comes up with a plan, they fear posting it because they might get targeted. And PMing is not OP, because you could end up trusting someone you shouldn't. Basically it makes the game 10 times more engaging, and the lack of it is the chief reason I haven't mafad in a while. Only playing this one because kuro is great and the rules look fun, and a lot of players who had afkd are back.
Seriously, no pming is 80% of the reason i haven't played recently.
Oh, and I know it's put in to police mass roleclaiming, but instead mass roleclaiming should be policed by saying
"you are not allowed to suggest 'claiming via PM' in the thread. You may claim to someone individually in PM, but may not suggest, or talk about, claiming by PM in thread. References to role claiming in thread should be limited to public claiming"
also
"you may not PM more than two other players in the same message" This way, you have to TRUST that the pmer has messaged other people if they want to do that.
Really, PMing is fun because you can talk individually with someone in blab, i don't really care much for making big posts and pming them.
This means that if a mass roleclaim IS to take place, it has to be orchestrated by PMing players individually, making it much more likely people will simply say "no." and reduces the impact while still preserving the positive gameplay impact of pming.
I was going to say all of this after this mafia, but rob asked so i answered.
