...also, if you were a mafia, I imagine this would give you an incentive to avoid killing her anyway, because she can't/wouldn't want to confirm you due to Paranoiac as a safety mechanism against being found out.

If Espi is truly paranoiac, which he likely is: If he's a civilian, mafia have no reason to target him right now, so he won't be using his ability (especially with the chance that his name can be cleared). Mafia's priority is on police and then Calindu. This makes him a likely target for arrest right now.

Really, I think that as a civilian, Espi has no reason to ever use his ability (barring a change in circumstances I don't see right now). Any use of it would out him as mafia.
