Mafia Win

The game is indeed over. The mafia have a total of 10 voting power: 6 from Giovanni/Magikarp, 1.5 from Maxie, 1.5 from Archie, and 1 from Ghetsis. It is enough to successfully lynch theelkspeaks (Salamence) even if all of the civilians vote against it. Then, tonight the mafia plan to kill gusxz (Mismagius), who cannot use his ability because it was used the previous night.

At that point, the civilians will have no way of keeping the mafia in check. They cannot compete with the mafia’s voting power, because they have lost their Dragonites and Magikarp. They cannot disable Giovanni’s vote because they have lost their Pikachu and Hydreigon. They cannot kill Giovanni because they have lost Lance, Red, and their Tyranitars, Salamences, and Mismagiuses. The mafia will have strategically taken out everyone who could stand in their way.

Even though the mafia lost only one member, it was a somewhat close game. If the civilians still had a way to keep Giovanni in check, they would have been able to lynch Ghetsis, Maxie, and Archie. From there, it would be down to whether or not they can figure out who Giovanni is.

But I’m not disappointed in the result, because I believe the mafia collectively played a better game than the civilians. From the very beginning, they mostly kept under the radar and used their abilities wisely. Cyrus scored a free kill with Obliterate, and Ghetsis identified both Lance and the Nurse. But the biggest play of all was when Giovanni was targeted by the Professor while Disguised.

I honestly think the civilians would’ve had a pretty good chance at winning if they had been more wary of jonathancrazyj, aka Giovanni. Unfortunately, they gave all of their information to him without second thought. With that information, the mafia strategically eliminated Red/Dragonite, followed by Hydreigon, and then Salamence and Mismagius. It’s funny how the mass role claim brought down the civilians instead of the mafia, eh?

Congratulations to jonathancrazyj and the rest of the mafia, who played a great game. Best of luck to everyone in the future mafias. I’ll be hosting another one later down the road, and I’m thinking about doing a Harry Potter theme. I will also be hosting a forum game called Even-Odd, and the sign-ups will hopefully begin soon.

Yeah, I did think JCJ was Giovanni but had no way to confirm it. Professor info was true for qwerter which meant it was the other numbered days that were dangerous. Too bad I had no info on Zawad/nightkills to confirm JCJ and just leaving all the town members by professor in the dark was a worse tactic than revealing.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR FUTURE MAFIAS: Use your abilities. Please.

There were a lot of things going against town this game that made it hard to win, similar to what happened to mafia last game. The only thing I really want to say is to ask that you confirm me sooner. I only had a day phase and a night phase this game.

Was pretty sure that Fippe was one of the Archie/Maxie pair... c'mon qwert.

It looks like flyingcat decided to go for Treldon over Fippe, even though Fippe had the stronger argument against him. jcj might have been involved in that. When I joined, I immediately called for Fippe to be lynched, but close to the end of the day jcj convinced flyingcat through PMs to vote on kirby. I let the kill go through for various reasons. One of those reasons was that kirby had told us that he hadn't used his Mismagius at all for fear of killing civilians, and I thought he was lying because I didn't think he was that bad. I was wrong.

My mafia will be up in the next few days - it's 98% done, there's just a couple small things I want to add. Figured this mafia would take another week or so, heh.

Just to add to this, I want to post some highlights of my time as Giovanni:

1. I decided to give true and useful logic on day 3. Fippe was among my "guesses for archie/maxie" though I did play him down. This was in the hope that I would seem town enough for Prof to use his ability, and he did. I was in.

2. I kept low and gathered information, and completely organised the civvy pad, appearing town.

3. and this was just the best thing... We had agreed on civvy pad to lynch Fippe, NOT Kirby. I was to announce the lynch. I left it as late as I could, and had a long conversation with Flyingcat (in the civvy alliance) that I thought Kirby was acting really dodgey, as when he claimed, he said he hadn't used his ability, and he was in some of the archie/maxie combos. I waited and waited and BINGO, cat votes on Kirby.
3a) This triggered a chin of events, I reasoned a second train was pointless despite this  "strange" move by cat, as Kirby was still on our list. this killed a Mismagius.
3b) I played on Lincat's suspicion and we essentially deduced FC was Giovanni.
3c) I managed to let HIM 'convince' ME that we should use theelkspeak's Draco Meteor on flyingcat (this would have been absolutely hilarious, but sadly theelkspeaks didn't have internet and couldn't send in ability)

This had all given us enough time to pick off the remaining "kill" characters, and win.

Double agent is fun as hell. But I am glad it's over. My head was starting to hurt.

OH one last thing. Last night, after I voted for theelkspeaks:

@ jcj - I hope people don't mind observer comments, but for someone relatively new to Mafia here, that was pretty impressive. Well done.
