Ten Ursaring souls says the strategy for today is going to be "Someone roleclaim and have iridium warden block their ability."
And I'll wait until I'm proven right until I make a vote.
*Casts haste on Root*
I apologize for this post. That was rather rude and presumptive of me to talk in such a manner.
But, called it!
Moving on, let's have a look at everyone that's being lynched. I guess that'll give us something to talk about whilst we wait for the plan to be finalized. Feel free to take your time, :D
I mean, I don't really know who to lynch, so maybe writing a giant wordwall should clear my mind.
... I mean, normally I just bandwagon on day one.
Starting with Nepycros and Crockett:
Why would a townie vote on themself?
Well, it's day 1. If they have a bad/no role, they could vote on themself as a means of being less damaging to the team.
There are four ways a lynch can go here:
You kill a power role townie, very bad,
You kill a vanilla townie, bad,
You kill a power role mafia, very good,
... And no one dies, WTF is this sorcery?
Lynching a vanilla isn't that bad. Certainly better than lynching a power role.
Why would a mafia vote on themself?
Nepycros (2) -Nepycros, iancudorinmarian
CrockettRocket (3) -CrockettRocket, Brusterix, Elbirn
Submachine (1) - qwerter
qwerter (1) - Submachine
(Current vote, I'm not voting)
If Crockett was mafia, he could remove his vote and then have nobody lynched at this current state, or kill somebody else if it is a tie already. This helps the mafia greatly... Later on. Endgame-wise, this is an immensely useful technique. Sure, you can see who the mafia is- you're still close to death and you're probably not going to see the other mafia in your ranks.
Early on, this makes no sense. If Crockett does this, he's clearly mafia and then the mafia would be 1 down by day 2, with only 3/2 civs dead. Not good.
So, overall, it would make sense that Crockett and Nepycros are vanilla... Unless they're stupid. But Nepy's apparently been in many, many mafia games and Crockett absolutely penetrated me last mafia... I doubt they're stupid. So, logically, they're probably vanilla civs wanting people to not be stupid and kill a vanilla instead of a power role, whilst the mafia create cracks in their disguise, allowing the townies to exploit these openings.
Although, if I had to choose between Crockett and Nepycros, I would choose Nepycros because I don't know if Dm is lying about Nepycros being in more mafias than Crockett, and Crockett was a very good asset for both the mafia and civilians last mafia. (He told the team so much, it was great. Really, if he just kept his mouth shut, we would have stood absolutely no chance. (Yes, in Joey's mafia I was mafia, the master to be specific.))
Submachine/qwerter:
I'm IN (for my first mafia game) 8)
Btw, what are those (EN) and (EoR) things?
(Crockett got confused on who was playing their first mafia, this is clarification. Hi, Brusterix! Here's a free tip for you:
Be paranoid. Really.
Everyone is out to get you unless they're confirmed.
You can trust no one unless they're confirmed. Be as honest as you can, because lying as a vanilla is pointlessly detrimental and vanilla like to lynch all liars, which sucks if you're a mafia. But paranoia is your greatest weapon.
Hope you enjoy life here.)
Moving on,
Submachine claims that he is not viewing his role.
The problem here is why the lol he's doing this- This doesn't make sense, mafia OR townie.
... But what if he's lying? What if he's already checked?
Well, he could still kinda know without checking.
I was mafia last game, I'll admit that. The Master. I got 3 inbox messages: One by the host telling me I was mafia, and one by my colleagues linking me to a titanpad. The third was someone asking me my role and roleclaiming to me, a silly but absolutely devastating move on their behalf; they could not have pinned me down better if they tried. (You got lucky, Crockett. You got lucky! >:U)
So, if Sub got two inbox messages, he could know he was mafia before he reads the message... Maybe.
What if it was his role and someone being stupid/weird?
What if it was his role and something else not related to mafia?
...There is absolutely no good reason to do this that I can think of, and absolutely no good reason to reveal it. It is an entire detriment to either team he is on. If he is a power role, like, uh... The warden Root seems to be plotting, and this makes him look like a mafia and he gets lynched... Well, that was a nice plan, wasn't it?
The only real reason I think he would want to (reveal/)do this is to create a fuss. And it's working, given the qwerter/Sub vote.
Knowledge is the greatest resource a player of mafia, townie or mafia, could possibly have. Why are you hindering your own knowledge?
If I was in a bad mood, I would be voting on Sub right now as a policy lynch. The mafia wiki never says "Don't look at your roles.", At all. It says "Don't >tell< people your role." If you don't trust yourself to not give out your own role so much as to blind yourself...
But... Go on. I'll let it slide. *Takes a deep breath*
So, yeah. I assume all four mafia abilities are in the game. Can Sub read his ability and confirm that he has read it, without telling us it, if he's a civilian, whilst the mafia, if all four mafia abilities are in the game, look at their titanpad, check what role is missing and assault Sub in the chat with it? Thank you.
[/rant]
(Why am I complaining about bad play when I'm nothing but a string of it?)
Moving on... One more thing:
This is actually proving to be pretty difficult, not knowing which civilian role is missing from the equation. My first thoughts are that the Iridium Warden could target a player at night, then the following day tell the player "I'm the Iridium Warden and I targeted you." The player who was targeted would then reveal that the Iridium Warden is a confirmed civilian, and from there, you know the drill. There are a few potential problems with this strategy, however, so I still need to come up with a few modifications to the plan. I'll try to have a full plan by tomorrow.
There's no real problem with that.
All the mafia can do is delay you by a day by mirroring you, and it's not worth two mafia.
So... Yeah.
