ELEMENTS MAFIA 40
Where the games comes to life
Spoiler for "Lore":
It had been a year since Almighty Developer Zanzarino had abandoned Elements The Game.
The Oracle stared at his wheel, absent-mindedly scratching his fat belly. The wheel kept spinning on and on, taking much longer than usual, but finally it rested on the Mark of Death. And suddenly, at the centre of the wheel a card unknown to the Oracle appeared. It seemed to be a fragment of great power, one which could reverse the holy order of life and death… a Shard of Sacrifice.
The Oracle scratched his head, and then called upon a Special Spins Technician. Upon seeing the Shard, the Tech screamed in horror. “It can’t be! Mr. Oracle, if you start granting Shards, the very fabric of Elements will be ripped apart!”
But by then it was too late. A Shard of Wisdom appeared from thin air beside the Shard of Sacrifice, a Shard of Freedom dove down from the air, and a Shard of Focus accreted its way from the floor. The Oracle let out a piercing wail, and ran from his chamber.
Arena Moderator Wigurashi gave a disgruntled look at the screen. Somehow an Arena Deck had received Shard of Sacrifice as the Oracle card. Hackers! Filth! But as she loaded up the super secret Arena Mod panel, she realized it was a much, much more severe problem. Shards were popping up in all sorts of Arena decks, and they had overridden the AI rules to become more OP than ever.
She quickly picked up a small yellow phone, one which hadn’t been activated in 3 years. She whispered into the receiver, “Arena Mods! The game has been bugged! I repeat, the game has been bugged! We must unite against these evil shards!” She only hoped they would remain in a fit state to face this problem. And so she opened up a virtual scanner, pixilated herself and entered into the game.
The Oracle heard an abrupt noise, slightly similar to several bees buzzing. He turned to catch a glimpse of the intruder. But soon his wariness had been replaced by relief. “Wigurashi, thank goodness you’re here. The entire source code has been bugged. The shards want to kill us all, and take over the game.”
Meanwhile, the 29 False Gods were at council. Even their decks had been bugged, and they were slowly being sapped of their powers. They wanted the game for themselves, and they wouldn’t stop at anything to get it. So they decided to combine their decks into a horribly OP monstrosity, and annihilate the Shards and the gamebots once and for all.
RULES:
1. No posting during the 'Night Phase' whatsoever. Everyone gets '~1' warning per night phase if they mess this up.
2. Do not post, chat, OR PM ANY revealing information if you have been killed/removed from mafia (except for minor 'BLARGH'/murloc TM death noises). This also means that if you withdraw from mafia, you cannot reveal any information after withdrawing from the game.3. All Secondary roles/targeting/actions are to be messaged during the NIGHT phase, unless stated otherwise.
4. No player may do the 'No-Vote'/AFK for two consecutive days without a viable reason. Holidays, funerals, etc count as viable reasons. Mafia on other sites, just forgetting, etc, do not. If you wish to withdraw, post in this thread; but do NOT reveal any secret information.
Players without viable reasons will be modkilled. Breaking this rule repeatedly may result in a ban from future mafias.5. Post in the topic if you want to sign up. No need for any 'role' choosing or whatnot, everything is randomized and assigned.
6. Do not quote PMs. Ever. Furthermore no one is permitted to declare themselves to be a scum, either publicly or through PMs.
7. You are allowed to talk in chat about mafia, but please remember general chat rules.8. You are not allowed to edit AND/OR remove your post. Instead, EBWOP will take effect. This means, to edit your post, post again with the correct fixes. Any posts breaking this rule will result in the post being deleted on sight.9. Any flaming/trolling/cursing will not be tolerated. Appropriate actions will be taken if any of this occurs.*
10. The mod/host has the final say in any dispute. Do not argue with the mod/host. Do not impersonate the mod/host.11. Breaking rules 2, 6, 9 or 10 may result in ban from future mafias or forum games in general.**
12. When PM-ing the Host for anything associated with Mafia, please include "Mafia" in the subject line. Otherwise, your PM may be ignored or overlooked.
* Abbreviations of curse words don’t count. But please do keep it PG-13.
** Banning from future mafias will be on a case by case basis and is entirely in the Forum Games Organizer(s) hands.
Spoiler for How to play Elements Mafia:
Mafia is generally played between two teams: Civilians and Mafia. The civilians are the main group, and they enjoy the minor advantage of being a majority. Every day, the civilians post in the thread to discuss who is likely to be mafia, and place a vote on who they think is being scummy (a.k.a. mafia-like or anti-civilian). One thing to note is that your Voting Total signifies the total of votes placed on you, and Voting Power stands for how many votes you actually place on someone when you vote on them (everyone has a standard Voting Power of 1). At the end of the day the host tallies up all the votes and considers all skills affecting the voting; the person with the most votes on them is killed (termed as lynching), and all their info is revealed. Then Night falls, and NO ONE posts in the thread.
That’s when the mafia come in. The Mafia are a minority of players who know each other’s identity. Their job is to eliminate all the other players using deception and nightkills. They interact with the town during the day, trying to mislead them away from lynching any mafia members. And when night falls, Mafia discusses in secret and chooses a person to kill (termed as nightkill). Also during the night the civilians use their skills. Some of the noteworthy skills include the cop/seer, who investigate other players to find their allegiance, and the doctor (usually called Archangel here) who can protect a specific player from any nightkills for that night.
Does the stupid game ever end, you ask? Well contrary to popular belief, it does. The Civilians win when whenever they manage to lynch all the Mafia members. And Mafia wins when their combined Voting Power is enough to control the vote entirely, i.e. if all Mafia members vote on the same Civilian and all Civilians vote on a Mafia ember, the civilian will be lynched.
ROLES:Alliances:Team Gamebots – Your general civilians of the game. They are the magical bits and pieces of the game, who help to keep it running. Their mission is to fix the game by eliminating all the bugged shards, and taking care of the OP monstrosity.
Team Bugged Shards – The ‘Mafia’ of the game, their job is to kill everyone else and take over the game. To do this they exercise a Nightkill and some special Shard abilities. [1 less than approx. 20-25% of the players]
OP Monstrosity – Created from the most OP cards of all the False Gods, OP Monstrosity exercises several skills to help it annihilate all other factions. [Only 1]
Key:(ER) - Every Round. Can be used every turn.
(EoR) - Every other Round. Can be used every other turn (i.e. - you must wait a day to use it again)
(LU) or (#U) -
Limited use. Abilities with these annotations can only be used a specific amount of times (save for very rare circumstances). For example, a "1U" ability can only be used once throughout the entire game, whereas a "3U" ability can be used 3 times before the ability expires.
(Passive) - You do not require to PM this passive for it to trigger automatically.
POTENTIAL TEAM BUGGED SHARDS ABILITIES:Shard of Sacrifice (EoR): The next day, temporarily gain +3 to your Voting Total. The players who vote on you also vote on the person you voted on.
Shard of Wisdom (ER): Target a player; that player permanently gains +3 to Voting Total and is Immune to Nightkills. May not target same player more than once.
Shard of Focus (ER): Target a player; that player gains a permanent -2 to Voting Total and their skill(s) is negated for this night and the next. May not target same player more than once.
Shard of Freedom (EoR): Target gains 50% chance to evade all targeting.
POTENTIAL TEAM GAMEBOTS ABILITIES:The Arena Moderators (4 people) [No offense meant to the actual Arena Mods through their name alterations]The Cop roles. Each night, they can investigate a player and learn their alignment (i.e. Gamebot or Not Gamebot). However, these results will be swayed by their identity/sanity. Note that Arena Moderators will NOT know their own identity/sanity. But it will be revealed on their death.
Wigurashi – The Sane Moderator. Your administrative skills are still strong, and your investigations are always correct.
ZSader – The Naïve Moderator. You have been away from the game for long, and have little idea about the bugs. All your investigations come up as Gamebot
Camietsu - The Insane Moderator. You spend your time lurking about and so you’ve gained a completely upside down idea of what’s going on. Your investigations are always false.
Eccense – The Paranoid Moderator. Your time as Jezebel’s Pimp has made you distrustful of everyone. All your investigations come up as Not Gamebot.
Normal Gamebots (Some of the following might be absent from the game version to maintain balance based on the number of participants)Gamebot: These are the AI bots who you play against in-game. They have no abilities cause they're pieces of sentient toast.
The Oracle (ER): Target two players; their skills are revealed to each other. May not target self.
Shakif, the Bazaar Seller (EoR): Target a player; that player has his skills removed and permanently gains +2 to Voting Power. Has no effect if it targets OP Monstrosity.
The Special Spins Technician (EoR): At the end of the Night Phase when this is activated, all Shard skills used that night and their targets are revealed publicly.
AI0 Tutor (3U): Target a player; at the end of each night phase, that player permanently gains +1 to voting power and +1 to voting total (This increase stacks over multiple night phases). May not target same player more than once.
Upgrade Master (EoR): Disable a player’s skill for that night only. The next day, that player temporarily gains +2 to Voting Power and -2 to voting total.
Redeemer of Marks (Passive): All skill which target you are redirected to a random player; the player who used the skill learns who is targeted instead. This skill does NOT affect Nightkills.
Donations Manager (EoR): Gains a Shard ability for the next two nights. This skill is NOT lost.
HP Counter (ER): Target a player. If that player were to die during the next two day-night phases, they have a 50% chance to survive instead. They are notified of this. May not target self, and may only target a player ONCE. Does NOT stack.
PvP Negotiator (ER): Target two players; their skills are switched for the next day-night phase. This does NOT affect nightkill skills. Their identities aren't revealed. The players are notified of this.
POTENTIAL OP MONSTROSITY ABILITIES:OP Monstrosity is crafted from the strongest abilities given to the False Gods. He will have 4 abilities and may use as many as he wishes during a day-night phase (considering cooldowns of course). Of these 4 abilities, one is guaranteed to be Fire Lance and the other 3 are randomized from the list below:
Fire Lance (EoR): Kill target player. This functions as a Nightkill, not as a skill.
Overdrive (Passive/1U): At the end of each night phase, permanently gains +1 to voting power and +1 to voting total (This increase stacks over multiple night phases). May choose to deactivate it during a Night phase. Then the ability may NOT be activated again.
Chaos Power (EoR): Randomly gain from +1 to +3 to Voting Power and Voting Total for the next day phase.
Pest (EoR): Target a player; their voting power is negated to 0 and your voting power is increased by their original voting power for the next day only.
Gravity Force (EoR): Target player has all no-votes re-directed to them.
Explosion (ER): Disable a player's ability for that night only.
Miracle (2U) [DAY AND NIGHT SKILL]: Prevent your death during a lynch phase or during the night. This ability can be used immediately per day/night cycle (you can use it in the same day/night cycle as necessary).
Purple Nymph (EoR): Invert the player's voting power to the negatives (if possible). They are notified of this.
Forest Spectre (ER): Name a player; if that player survives the night, permanently gain to +1 voting power.
Eternity (EoR): Target's vote is changed to what it was the previous day.
Deadly Poison (Passive): You permanently add 2 to the voting total of any player you vote on until they are killed.
Pharaoh (ER): Harass a player with a hidden Scarab; you learn their exact role the following night cycle.
Cloak (EoR): Evade all targeting this day-night phase.
