My method for confirming people:
This is very delicate and is more so a "self judgement" decision. We see eye to eye and with me studying psychology I pick up on the little things people say.
Your opening lines "Hello, let's talk Mafia." "I promise to be 100% honest with you, but reserve the right to not answer certain questions. Those questions involve asking about my teammate's and their roles, along with how I confirmed them. The only catch after that, is, you've got to tell me you're role."
This of course means they can ask you your role. Because I'm our decoy, I can answer this honestly. Just confirm theirs no mochi and you can use thar as your excuse day in and night out. XD.
Mafia already know who's not mafia so that means they're trying to kill them reguardless of them being on food or civvie. So if someone asks you "What's your role" that's a good sign. It show's they want to know, mafia don't care.
Ask yourself between every question, is that something the mafia would like to know, or more so a civilian? This usually hints at what their motives are. If you're unclear, ask them how they on their own accord plan on voting next and why. Then welcome to the presumed civilians! Or, something doesn't seem right. Or, something seems bad, welcome to the presumed Mafia who now thinks they know my role and have got off scotch free.
You will clearly see how a person votes next round to see if their mafia or not. Repeated offences (Aka always voting for confirmed, maybe presumed based on your sense of jugement of the person, can lead to a presumed mafia being confirmed.) It will take around 5 rounds to confirm mafia probably, but to get an idea it won't and thus I've layed the ground work for you.
Also brainstorm "Why would anyone if their mafia, choose to be the role they said they were?" "What mafia role is closest to the role the person just told me?"
If it's close then that's an alarm. It would thus allow them to act like a civilian pretty close to acting like a mafia at the same time while giving to both roles at the same time. Any foolish mafia wants this exact thing. It could be smart, but I call it foolish cause it makes people who feel they have he upper hand pretty evident on their true self. That's why you let them ask you questions. Mafia will be stupid as human nature will naturally allow them to not think of the counter to the counter to the counter. Maybe think 2 steps but not 3 in most cases. Fippe would be a dangerous person, in interrogation it was clear he could see very closely to 3 steps, maybe even the whole 3 steps.
Watch out for him, but I trust him.
If it's close that's an alarm. How do we deal with anything alarming? Hello salvager, mind flayer, and psion.
^This was my PM to Nae about how to use the confirmation method. I edited out the last part because it's unimportant. To sum up the last part it was... just plans on how to kill the mafia once you know what "claimed role" people would use. It was a 3 step system. 1st step: find out the role the person claimed he was. This was known as "claimed ____" then in opinion also put "possible mafia" or "possible civilian" our actions on what to do next used the 2nd bit of information their. The 2nd information basically tells us "suspects." We then had them do a task for us. After that we labeled them "presumed civilian." We then either had them do 1 more task that would "confirm" them or had them targeted by an ability. Using one line of logic, one that seemed far fetched we would take it and assume it to be true, then if we confirmed enough of the people in that single line of logic we labeled all the people involved confirmed civilians. We kept everyone apart and listened to their stories, if they matched that's how they got put into the single line of logic. Zawadx's death allowed for such a string. With one more requirement: The amount of people in a single string of logic and assumptions had to be greater then the possible number of mafia.
