L's ability is every other turn.

Go read the rules... it's every turn. Unfortunately, Rem is also every turn, so once L comes forward, mafia has to sacrifice someone to kill L, or get lucky and kill Rem first. The fact that both L and Rem can use their abilities every round is OP, in my opinion, but RR thinks otherwise...

Yeah. The way the abilities work out once L is confirmed (Which was most likely to happen via him outing a Kira) mean that the Kira are forced to either kill L, who will be saved by Rem & kill another Kira, and then next turn finish off L, only to have Near and Mello activate, or to let him live until they can find Near and/or Rem themselves. Not only does the first option cost them dearly, but they don't actually gain much of anything by doing it, as Near's ability alone is better than L's.
