Tensions were running high. Already 11 of their comrades had been slain yet only a single traitor discovered. Distrust and uneasiness were the prevailing feelings and the in-fighting was daily. Even with the discovery of the traitor
Onizuka nobody was feeling safe. Over time the whispers began to become more focused until finally an unspoken consensus was reached:
TheForbiddenOracle has to die. Silently the band gathered in the busy marketplace, using the crowd to disguise their movements. Oblivious to the danger,
TheForbiddenOracle was quickly surrounded and suddenly found himself pressed face-first against a wall. He could feel the cold steel of the knife pressed hard against his throat.
"We know you are one of them." a voice whispered in his ear, "Reveal your partners in crime and we won't make you suffer."
"You have the wrong person, I am innocent!" he croacked back, afraid to swallow the lump in his throat as it might cause the blade to slice it.
"Then you must die." shouted the voice.
Suddenly a crash sounded and the knife dropped to the floor. A band of mercenaries had appeared and began attacking the group. A battle ensued and as quickly as it began it was over. Bruised and bloodied, they all managed to survive one. The target of the group had been slain. How could the band know there was a target? You'd be surprised how effective their interrogation methods had become - something I'm sure the captured mercenary never counted on. The traitors had stuck again, intent of killing their greatest threat at organized resistence.
jippy99 was slain.
Starting down at the knife at his feet,
TheForbiddenOracle finally let himself swallow down the lump. In the commotion and aftermath and interrogation he had been forgotten. He would live another day.
