When I first started playing DnD, a kid named "Andrew Wallace" taught me. He did so incorrectly. He gave himself a level 100 player, dished out experience unfairly, made all of us use weird moves like "soul stomp" and had us larping instead of rolling dice. It was pitiful. He never bothered to learn, and so, I thought roleplaying was dumb and repetitive, so I never played again.
3 years later I finally met someone who knew what they were doing. The difference was astronomical.
Just... give it a shot. As much as I hate to admit it, you're the most active roleplayer on the site, meaning RPGs have double the odds of survival with you on board.
