EDIT: The Mafia Championship!

I have now added the poll to this thread; the poll will end a few days before the Mafia Championships begin, and upon completion, I will send Thingyman our top nominations to see who will be entered into the event.

To put it bluntly, while there are several strong players in the poll, I'm not convinced anyone available currently has the right mix of activity, skill, confidence, and attitude to be a perfect representation of our community. So keep in mind while voting that we'll have to compromise somewhere.

If I were to vote at this moment, I know the three people I would choose, but I think our goal should be to send the most skilled player that won't damage our chances of being invited in the future, and I feel that warrants discussion.

Perhaps ask everyone to post thoughts with vote? We could also do alternative voting if we want a simple process to find the nest.

I would add this comment on the pool and names in it... I strongly discourage voting to send a player from our forums that has at any time intentionally thrown a mafia game here.

MeowMeowCat	It depends on how much does the TO stuff eat up of his time.	TMW he has 5 voting power, is being lynched, posts "pls no lynch" and forgets to vote to save himself. xD	The most positive personality of all listed people.	He's a valued community member, so representation wouldn't be a problem.	I like his enthusiasm, and even if he would do minor hiccups, I'm sure he would make a lot of friends and an overall good impression in others. +1
skyironsword	Before ban, it was immense. After ban, it is unknown.		Was problematic in the past. No signs of long-term change yet.		You be the judge.
Zawadx					I know the least about Zawa's mafia playstyle. (if we don't count Demagog)

Sub, in regard to your comment about me always dying early as mafia:
47: Lynched through process of elimination on 2nd to last day.
49: Not suspected for the limited duration.
50: Practically confirmed by JCJ Night 1, convinced him not to lynch me, lynched by mafia partner. Also got you to trust me.
53: Confirmed by one of the THREE COPS on Night 0.
54: Played badly, caught by dd in the middle of the game, no votes from an inactive town.
57: Lynched Day 3, talked about this in the thread.

A couple notes:
I have not been able to be active lately, but I'll ask to play in June when I don't have school.
The goal is not to win, but to be voted one of the two best players.

It's pretty much bad luck then, mostly. I still voted on you, as shown by the + signs in my previous post, because I know what you are capable of if you are not shut down too early.

I will elaborate on this story later, as I have people waiting on me, but I will give you an example of one of my favorite games. Kuro can back me up on the details.

I started the game as a civilian, and was ID'd in the second round, which was pretty normal on this forum since people knew what I was capable of. One of the mafia members then used an ability which removed them from the game, but it also turned me into a mafia member. I believe the detective was killed by the mafia that same night, and Kuro was the other player he had ID'd. The mafia knew they had killed the doctor, so I told Kuro I was the doctor and our alliance lasted until I died. I died when I got too aggressive in the lynch phase and the person we lynched took me with him out of spite. This put us in a tough spot, as there were just enough civs left and suspicion was on the last two mafia members. One civ in the game had an ability that allowed them to win as long as they were alive at the end of the game. I suggested to the other mafia members that they contact her and offer a truce: she votes with us and we will make sure she stays alive and gets to win also. She accepted and both mafia and she won the game.

As far as my personality, I try to play a little differently from game to game. I would just suggest going through my post history and searching for my posts in mafia threads. Or have other veteran members vouch for me.

Never played with you as far as I remember (maybe in my first few games/your last few games), but while doing a bit of archive searching I looked into your history.

I DEFINITELY remember that game...  Ugh, the betrayal in that made me look at mafia from a completely different angle.

That being said, activity and community representation will be important for whoever we decide to send to the championship; even if the player we select gets knocked out the first round, if they can at least gain a little respect for their sense of play, then it's worth it. ^^;

If you guys want to send someone that is more of a current representation of the community, that is fine with me. I just like to think of myself as a "founding father" of the community haha, so if that's what yall want, you can send me.

I've played mafia on the more traditional mafia sites online a bit (mostly Mafiascum), and it's very different from the way we play here.  Especially after looking at the setup, I want to be sure we're sending someone with at least some experience on another site.

As for myself, I know I'm too busy, and not nearly good enough as a player to be the right choice, so I'll decline being added to the poll.

For those on the list: Have you ever played mafia on other sites? How was your experience there?
