Granted, New York gets stomped and pulverized and flooded to become a giant slimy mass. A part of that mass is put into a container and directly sent to your house. Because you are the only one who received something of it, everyone starts to blame you for this "catastrophe", causing you to be lynched.

I wish nobody would just grant wishes with a "you die"-message, but instead explain the detailed circumstances of that persons death (for reference on how to do this properly, see the beginning of this post ).

Meanwhile in an alternate unvierse, I corrupt your wish differently:

Granted, I stop granting wishes. Random aliens who are using the earth as a giant reality TV show get upset about my inactivity and blame you for it. They fly to earth and strangle you with their pet pink catz because they forgot to bring their high tech execution stuff. Meanwhile, their relatives in the home planet rejoice at the drama caused by your death, causing revenue for the reality TV show to soar.
I wish bizzare evil dots.

Granted, bizzare evil dots show up and attack your home, and when you escape, you are chased by angry villagers armed with pitchforks who want to kill you because the dots attacked them, and you are eventually killed by jumping into a vat of toxic waste. Try again?

I wish I can float to the moon on the back of an inflatable furry pupperfish filled with helium.

Granted, the laws of physics are bend so that helium still continues to move away from earth when in space. This however doesn't solve the problem of insufficient oxygen supplies up there... You die.
