Very well; I will join.
Forum Name: Helios
Color: White
Character Name: Ticarael (Given Name), Grey Angel/Grey One
(Epithets)
Element: Light/Aether/Time
Gender: Asexual
Race: Angel
Age: Difficult to determine with exactitude; approximately 8000 years old
Appearance: As the epithet may suggest, Ticarael's eyes and hair are grey; a grey light emanates from his being, though it is bright and benevolent, being inclined towards white. Ticarael's face appears as neither old, nor young, though his calming eyes appear as pools of memory, reflecting the light and wisdom of the stars.
Considered to be relatively tall by the standards of his race, though not matching that of the High Angels, in his standard physical form, the Grey One stands at 188 cm and is relatively light, but remains strong and vigourous physically.
When in Heaven, no clothing is required for Ticarael, like all Angels have no motive to mask their true forms there. When elsewhere, a long, enveloping grey cloak covers the entirety of his body while a hood hangs over his head, such that nothing is visible to others save for his ever-shining grey eyes.
Personality: Ticarael is among the greatest sages of Heaven, surpassed only by the High Angels. Though his wisdom enables him to assume most virtues, he, like many powerful Angels, is also tragically flawed in a specific manner: he is largely incapable of romantic love on a personal level because he is asexual. Having witnessed the rampant destruction, death and misery caused by lesser races, he is sometimes mistrustful of them, but has always recognised their potential for great good and genuinely believes in the goodness of their souls. Unlike some of his friends, and even some of the High Angels, he does not possess an attitude which stipulates that Heaven is absolutely infallible. The Grey Angel, however, if he cannot know romance on a personal level, is a firm romantic on a cosmic scale, which ultimately explains his close friendships with the High Angel of Love and with the highest of the High Angels, himself the very embodiment of romantic idealism. Like all Angels, Ticarael more than believes: he knows of the existence of the One, or God whom created everything into being.
Abilities:
Intimacy with Light: Ticarael can use Light offensively and defensively in a variety of ways as his primary weapon.
The most significant and notable of Ticarael's abilities regarding Light are listed here:
Intimacy with Weapons: Ticarael can handle all weapons reasonably well, though his favourite is the extremely swift and lethal medium-length sword Alpha, Blade of the Beginning, combined with Istva, his shield. A bright blue light emits from both Alpha and Istva. While both are made of the most durable, strong and yet light material known to anyone in the world, Ticarael is aware that even greater swords exist.
Wrath of the Gods: Summoning forth the portion of the might of Heaven which he controls, Ticarael creates a powerful lightning storm of grey-blue thunderbolts smiting enemies. (Low-Medium drain of energy, though dependent on the length of time for which the storm is sustained: as a technique in-combat, used only when necessary; however, very useful for intimidation)
Divine Guardian: The High Angels themselves respond to the pleas of Ticarael, creating a massive shield of Light and holy energies around the Grey Angel and allies, swathing a large area with High Angelic Light, greatly healing allies and hurting enemies. (High drain of energy: collapse from exhaustion afterwards is certain; exhaustion may last for a full day at this level)
Restored Angelic Form: Most of Ticarael's limitations caused by his absence from Heaven are restored, becoming almost a true Angel of Heaven, brighter and taller. (Can be sustained for a few hours to equate a medium-high drain of energy)
The Grey One: However, Ticarael is special even amongst the Angels; summoning forth the wisdom of his soul, he attains his current pinnacle: that of the true Grey Angel. The light emanating from his body and weapons becomes nearly blinding. (Can be sustained for minutes at the most, drain of energy is massive)
Intimacy with Aether: Though unlike the High Angels, Ticarael must assume a physical form while not in Heaven, he remains immaterial to a certain extent, being difficult to hit by enemies. Being an Angel, he is also not restricted by the dimensions of the physical world and can move onto another plane for a brief amount of time.
Intimacy with Time: Ticarael is not only ancient, but his wisdom has granted him the power to exercise a small degree of control over Time itself (being able to slow it down or accelerate it slightly, but without stopping it altogether), this being the most powerful of his elemental abilities.
Background and World Description: Born during the Elder Days in an almost forgotten time, Ticarael is the only asexual Angel in all of Heaven, and as such is very unique. Though not a High Angel, he is reputed to be as wise as they are and among the few with potential for wielding truly great power, being already one of the most important advisers to the High Angelic Council.
The world of Ardeaon is divided into two continents: Valerian and Fastidor. The latter is inhabited by many intelligent (and some not particularly intelligent) races in various settlements, villages, towns and cities. Valerian is the Heaven of Ardaeon and the home of the Angels. Its capital, Valdaer, is the seat of the High Angelic Council.
The High Angels are the regents of the One, administrating Ardeaon under a mandate created when the world was formed. They are only twelve in number, and are extremely powerful: to the extent of being gods. Lesser Angels serve them and assist them in their duties, especially where Fastidor is concerned, because the High Angels, due to their immense power will never intervene personally there.
However, there once was a thirteenth High Angel, and the most powerful of them. Unfortunately, unlike his brethren, he sought not only to shape, but to create, a power which only the One is capable of wielding and was thus corrupted when the world was created, falling from grace and into evil. During these very earliest of days, as the High Angels gave shape to the world, the Dark One destroyed whatever they formed, sparking a massive, tumultuous and cataclysmic open conflict between the High Angels and the Dark One. As the divine, immaterial spirits battled for nothing less than the future of Ardaeon, the world itself was devastated and fundamentally re-shaped multiple times. However, though the war seemed to be at a standstill for many years, eventually, the combined might of the High Angels succeeded in driving the Dark One away, but were forced to commit a large share of their power to ensuring that the world remained stable and orderly and thus were unable to further pursue their campaign against the Dark One, whom continued to exist, albeit in darkness beyond the edge of the world itself.
But now, the Dark One is but a small memory of the ancient past. Many inhabitants of Fastidor are not even aware of his existence, and even the Angels of Valerian have become complacent where he is concerned. The High Angels rarely depart from their respective abodes now, and the Angels have essentially left the inhabitants of Fastidor completely to their own devices. Relative tranquility reigns, but all is not calm beneath the surface.
