Slow page load times

So I'm not exactly sure what's been going on, but I have a problem where when I try to load a page, it takes forever looks like its not doing anything. If I close the window, or cancel and refresh multiple times, eventually it loads at normal speed again. Its very strange and mildly irritating.

I'm using wi-fi provided by my college, but the problem persists on other wi-fi and has been going on for a year and a half
I'm using a Macbook Pro.
I'm using Google Chrome.
All other sites always load fast, excepting this site and Chatzy, and both of those occasionally load fast.

Help?

I thought it was just my internet, but the forums have been loading slow among other sites as well.

Google chrome occasionally does that for me just opening the internet. I think the server in general is running a little slow.
