Searching posts by User

Sometimes in the really really big threads, it's good to know what specific people have said.

For example, Zanz sometimes posts in the In Development threads to let us know of changes. When there's 20+ pages to look through, it can be hard to find.

I suggest that on the top under "Active Members", instead of the links leading to the profile of the user, it will link to their next post from the page you are on now.

This will make navigating large threads a bit easier.

I don't know if this is at all possible, but it would be nice to have.

A pretty good idea, if not, at least the concept is good, since it saves time. And saving time is good, right?

Well, I suppose you have a different opinion if you're on one of the 12 other teams in War.

Alternatively, you could have a search option that searches for the keywords only within a certain user's post.

This may be valuable to have. However with Zanz it doesn't take long to read every post he ever made in the forum via his profile.

1. Click Search (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?action=search) in the main navigation

2. In the "Search for" text field, enter two stars. Like this: ** . Those stars are wildcards, which basically means you are searching for everything.

3. Replace the star in the "By user" field by a username

4. Check the box "Search in topic subjects only". (leave unchecked if you want to search for topics only).

4. Click the "Choose a board to search in, or search all" at the bottom, and choose the forum section(s) you want

5. You will get all the posts made by that user in that section or sections.

Done.

I think , many people would look for "*" and not "**", and can only do it this way, when they read this topic. Or they never had the idea to do it this way.
I support the suggestion, because it´s really simple - and useful, but I don´t know, how hard it is to change this. I often try to click the name - and go to the profile, although I don´t want.  It´s intuitive to come to the next post of the user. Clicking on the name over the avatar can bring you to the profile, if you want.

I always wanted to do that too. It just seems so obvious from a UI perspective.

Probably still impossible, and I'm sorry for bringing it up again, but any way to just make all that happen automatically by clicking the name?

So, search for the user you clicked, and search within the topic you're in now?

That would work just as well if not better and it seems slightly more possible to me. (Not gonna ask for hours of work getting something like that to work though).
