Request: Post count, reputation & awards shown only on profile.

I think default should be hidden and an option to make it visible rather than the other way around or else the feature will be a dead feature.

@hyroen, if you would like staff member titles to show credibility you're opening up two arguments:
1.) Why should staff members rather than say post count, awards, or reputation, be a better thing to show credibility?
2.) Why should staff member titles remain seen while all the other stuff isn't? If you change your answer to question 1 to be post count, awards, or reputation, then answer question 2 accordingly.

If a question is about deck help, and a *Deck Helper* answers, one should be able to have more security in the response. Largely, where there is a question, there is an appropriate Staff member to answer. This may place more of an importance on Staff members, but not an unwarranted one.

Post count, reputation & awards (and possibly even name shade) while telling more about who someone is also runs the risk of giving the illusion of value. I won some awards. Much wow. That doesn't mean I'm part of the in-crowd. Similarly with post count and rep. I don't mind flaunting what I have, but it may be more flaunting than informing.

Aside, profiles tend to have little activity. This could be a way to increase their purpose and value.

This sounds like it's more than I wanna take on in terms of making a sweeping decision. I'll let the discussion continue for now. This may need to be a collective admin decision, or left with Council and/or Community to decide/give input.

Do an experiment*. We can assume that these stats correlate with credibility(not 100% correlation) and we can assume that these stats correlate with positive reader responses(again not 100% correlation). It would be interesting to see if the 2 correlations are similar.

Would objective statistically insignificant numbers be more or less useful than subjective statistically insignificant anecdotal theories? Honestly I don't know. However I do think that it is easier to delude myself than it is for math to delude me.

As I see it, Post count, Reputation and Awards cover three somewhat separate areas

Post count: Forum activity. It does not provide information on the quality or reliability on one's posts (One can have a thousand good posts in a year, or could also spam them out in a week if they are clever enough to bypass mods)

Reputation: Originality. As I can see, +rep is added when one posts something new -  be that a completely new deck or card, or just an interesting spin on it - or for a really helpful comment.
(Of course post count also adds reputation, but not much, so we can forget that for now.) The problem with this is that if one has been a member for a long time, they had a lot more chances to post new ideas. There are few new ideas to be created - Decks? hardly any. Cards? Not too many, and unlikely to be ever added - so most of the time someone comes up with something, the response is 'Simpsons already did it'

Awards: Gameplay. Most of the awards I have seen were added for one PvP event or another. Other community events seem to be under represented - whether not awarded or winners inactive I cannot tell. The problem with this is that it does not reflect contribution. One could be The PvP Master, win every single match, get all the awards - and otherwise ignore the community


So, for a new member, of these three, Reputation is the best option to determine whether an answer to their question is reliable or not
(Yes, an asnwer from a Staff member is more clearly so, but most of the times it's non-staffers who get to the scene first)

The very point of an award is that it is displayed. Most PvP events and comps provide no tangible reward except awards, and these carry some significance to the holders. I'm against removing awards from posts.

Post count is... bleh. If we remove post count we should also remove the markings of legendary and hero members, as they aren't really accurate. Reputation as it is values topic starting and posts to much; it should weight the +rep button more.

I'm surprised we're even questioning the display of staff titles. A staff title signifies a person as THE authority on a topic. This extends beyond their respective section as well. Staff are also handpicked by council as the people who are an example to others.

There is something to be said for how helpful the Target uniform that Target employees wear is for shoppers. Similar could be said for Curators/Moderators and other Staff Titles for positions that are there to answer questions/deal with issues.

Awards can still be displayed, just on profiles. It may be a case of valuing humility with the possibility of greater community integration.

Staff Titles weren't really part of the question, I'm personally in favour of them. However, post count, reputation, awards (and to a lesser degree, name shade) can easily show up on the profile and having them beside posts while informative, may also colour the user in an unnecessary way.
