we had a flood of impostors today, (including my soon to be dead brother and he thought it would be "funny" to be an impostor and got our IP chat banned (hurray....)) and its just getting annoying....

Do you think it would be possible to be able to restrict one account per IP address in the chat and on the forums, and disable the guest function?

Some of the guests like to spam a lot, it gets really annoying. I agree with that.

I disagree with disabling the guest function. We want the chat to be an accessible place and a place for newbies to ask for help. Having to create an account is a turn-off to some.

That said, I like the idea of limiting to one forum and chat account per IP, except for the problem 3D House of Beef mentioned where some workplaces share IPs. So maybe it isn't a good idea after all.

No, and I'm not sure there's a good way to do so =\. Warning + Ban if they don't leave is what I've been doing.

Anyways, something else we could maybe do is, if there was a way to put something in that automatically kicked people who flood. That may be difficult, though.

How about something that restricts people to one comment per ---- seconds or ------ comments per -------- seconds or no 4 comments in a row?

That might work. I would say one comment per 20 seconds

how about 1 message every 5 or 10 seconds? a flood warning is just a minute mute and stuff so you can still see the chat.
