Yes, I know how IP addresses work.

It would take more than the same IP, but that would be a strong indicator.

Multiple accounts are now forbidden.

http://elementstheforum.smfforfree3.com/index.php/topic,64.0.html

If you have any alts, post here or PM me which ones you want deleted.
I know someone who has multiple accounts.

You.

"Site Admistrator" and "EvilHamster". Does this mean you have to PM yourself which one you want deleted?
You forgot "site tester"  ;D

And if you READ the rule- I said without administrator approval. I hereby give myself approval.

Being dictator can be fun  :P

Reasons I would give approval would be something like a moderator wants to create a separate account to moderate and keep their main account a regular account. I've seen that on other forums. I'll consider other reasons, if they have merit.

And no, bobcamel "lulz" is not merit.

Are IP addresses registered by the last one to log into the account, or the one that was used to make the account?
Every message posted is stamped with the IP used, and additionally every profile has a tab (only visible to admins) that lists every IP used by it. I can also type in IP addresses/ranges with wildcards and get a list of every account/post in that range.

But what is so bad about multiple accounts themselves? I agree, when an account trolls then it should be banned outright, but if it doesn't, then what's the problem?

Yeah. Because trolling is so much fun.

Can we get a rule against having multiple accounts (with instant ban if someone has them) before more of these idiots start joking around with it? Spotting that one mega-troll is hard enough even without these dumbass comedians.

Actually, not only bobcamel (http://elementstheforum.smfforfree3.com/index.php?action=profile;u=857) = mannakht (http://elementstheforum.smfforfree3.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1062), but also bobcamel (http://elementstheforum.smfforfree3.com/index.php?action=profile;u=857) = minnakht (http://elementstheforum.smfforfree3.com/index.php?action=profile;u=926). Just to clarify.

Why did you make multiple accounts? Planning on trolling or what? You know there are many forums out there that would ban you for life for doing that? I personally think it's a good policy because there should be no reason for anyone to make more than one account.

I don't think we need an instant ban or anything. I was just suggesting this originally as a back-up plan if we get trouble-makers. I wouldn't call bob a trouble-maker. As an analogy, this is like "fix-it" tickets that an officer tacks on to your moving violation ticket when they pull you over for something. If you weren't pulled over to begin with for a moving violation, you might not have been pulled over for a "fix-it" ticket unless it was glaringly obvious.

But I digress, just a suggestion from my end, not a need... yet. :)
Instant banning for the use of alt accounts is used on many forums and it's a good policy imo. All kind of "trolling" can sometimes happen by mistake but when a person makes an alt account, he/she is perfect aware of breaking the rules, therefore deserves an instant ban.

But this brings up another question. Why bother having two accounts in the first place? One is quite enough. Yes, perhaps in an MMO, having multiple accounts means that you can have more storage space or more classes/races/jobs. However, on a forum, one account can do everything it needs to, so why bother having another unless you're trying to fool everyone else into thinking you're someone else?
You do know that's probably the troll himself you are replying to, right?

Or do you think he's just a regular player who made that account to join in this multiple account discussion?

Yeah, I was thinking this, since Bloodshadow has called Bob by that name before, and has mentioned that it was the name that Bob used on Kong, however, on the off chance that it wasn't, I didn't want to make any accusations.
