Introduce yourself should not count toward total post count https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=18563.msg236205#msg236205

In my opinion, i could see alot of people(like me) commenting on the introduce yourself subforum. this would drive up post count by alot and i think that posts made there should not count toward your total post count.

If a high post count somehow is a reward to you, okay. But it doesn't say a thing except how often you posted.. I don't see your point here. I'd rather say things which are not directly related to the game itself should not increase your post count.

Like I said in chat, this is a bad idea because it could potentially discourage people from posting there, and it's one of the sections where people should post so that newbies feel welcome.

Now see, the thing is, a warm welcoming of spam is still more enticing to a newbie than the cold shoulder at cannibalistic supper.

...Yah? Yah.

Besides that, I mostly went to the intro section to raise my count to 200 for my avvie, and I took the time to personalize each welcome (unlike some intro spammers we know XP).
Now I have my avvie and I go out of habit and because I really do like welcoming the newbies.

A less-than-perfect reason to do something at first can be the beginning of a great reason later on.

i agree with sir rebrl. it doesn't feel so good having a low post count and thus being jnr or noob for a long time. also not allowing that section to be counted is denying noobs of they're first ever post.

The thing is, i would rather be welcomed by people posting there because they like and want to help the newer players, not just people posting there for the sake of posting. Quality over Quantity.

Is that so much? For someone with a high post count (>500) it's peanuts and not notable, while a newbie with 0 posts will be happy about every post he makes so he doesn't need to feel like a total noob. There's just no good reason to do what you suggest.

plus no noob can ever recognise a spam post unless it actually says so itself which would be stupid. you should leave the newbies alone. there are much more eligible areas that could be banned from posts that count.
