My submission came in second, I don't see why Bloodshadow's was added, no offense to him at all. But i agree, we should have an art competition like the Underworld one. I'll bring it up with the other COs and SG when any of us can about a competition to add icons.
Edit: It was picked by SG as her favorite from the submissions for her Rainbow Team idea for War #3
You forgot to mention some details.
First of all, your submission got 41 votes while Bloodshadow's got 38. That 3 vote difference is meaningless, especially when considering that the vote was for Team Underworld icon, not Team Rainbow icon.
Secondly, your submission is way too different from all the other icons. It has a completely different graphic design, and doesn't "fit in" at all imo. Like I already said to you in the private forums, it also breaks the competition rules by not having everything inside the icon (because you cut it in half). While this is not about the competition anymore, it does make your icon way too different.
From all the legal icons that looked like they could be "rainbow", Bloodshadow's submission got the most votes, and was a simple and elegant. It was a pretty easy choice for me.
I'd have to agree, Bloodshadow's icon might have been good for UW, but aside from the colors, it's not much of a fit for Rainbow since the null symbol has no connection to Rainbow at all, or so I see.
There are many ways to define the null symbol. You could for example say the they reject all elements as their "main" element and instead use all of them. If you think it like that, it makes perfect sense. The icon doesn't have to be an actual rainbow now does it?
But of course if you want it not to make sense, that's easy too.
I didn't leave any of that out by accident. I chose not to say it because it's a moot point. I was just saying why that one was chosen, not why mine wasn't, I won't even get into things about my icon since that would just cause arguing. Not like I got into every detail, just a brief summary from what you posting in the private forum.
But wouldn't rejecting all of the elements as their "main" element and instead use them all, make all of their elements basically their "main" elements? It's not as if they are even rejecting them, it's the opposite. it's the inclusion of all, or most, of the elements. Personally speaking, Null makes very little to no sense for a team that encompasses all elements.
this should be for Other. Coloration may need to be improved.
Also, just pointing out, technically, other does have a symbol. it's used in the bizarre and looks somewhat like this:
