Include option for displaying absolute time of posting https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=24350.msg310862#msg310862

So currently, the new forum software is displaying the post dates in a slightly weird (to me) way. If it's under 24 hours old, it gives the time of posting as a relative value (i.e. x minutes ago or x hours ago), kind of like how Facebook does their timekeeping.

Would it be possible to have an option to change back to the old style of giving the exact date and time of posting for all posts? :)

A mouse-over (like Facebook) would probably suffice, as well, I think.

Giving this a bump.

Now that Leagues have started, it's more difficult for players to check if they can play their next match (due to the 24 hour cooldown period before they can play against the same person again), and for the LOs to verify that 24 hours have passed in between matches when scoreboard updates are made.

Having the option to enable absolute timestamps (rather than the relative timestamps that appear before 24 hours have passed) would make life easier for everyone :)

I'm 100% on board with this.  It's extremely difficult telling if League matches aren't violating the 24 hour rule when everything is in relative time.  This really becomes a problem if after updating the standings we look back and find an invalid match.  Definitely having an option to display absolute time instead of X hours ago would be a huge help.
Carpe Diem!!

I second this as an active league player. The old system really is more efficient than it is now.

I reverted relative time back to absolute time.

Relative time would be 10 times better if it showed relative time from 0 to last 24 hours. The problem is that the plugin changed from relative to absolute when the day changed. This is not good, and I have no idea why it was coded like that in the first place.

If I find a way to use the 24 hour relative time format, we'll probably use that. If not, we'll use the default absolute time-stamps.

Speaking of which:

Where  can I set the forum-time to my time in the account settings?
Myself and others are always posting at the most impossible times.  :))

Go to your Profile.
Click on Modify Profile -> Look and Layout
Look for the line that says Time Offset.
There should be a link that says "(auto detect)" -- click on it.
Click on Change Profile (bottom right of page) to save your changes.
