I have to say that this forum has the weirdest way of quoting and editing posts that I've seen in any forum. If you quote another post, it appears already formatted as html which means that you can't, for example, break up the quote into different paragraphs and reply to each one. You have to toggle the view and add the html formatting (of "blockquote") yourself. Then you have to toggle the view back, otherwise, rather than making what you've quoted be a quote, you end up with the text "blockquote" at the start and end of your quotes.
And I've just noticed another oddity. I just made a post in which I used a couple of the elements smilies:
Then I realised that I needed to change something, so hit "modify". Rather than appearing as ": time" without the space, the smilie now appeared as an actual smilie. Which is great, except that when I posted the amended post, the smilies, evidently not recognised by the html interface, showed up as ".." and I had to go back and edit them back in.
My question is - is this actually any better than more standard forum software that just uses BBCode? I can't see any advantages, and it's almost unfailingly a pain in the arse.
