Forum PMs

I was wondering if there was anyway to program into the forum a way to alert someone they've received a forum PM without reloading the page. It'd have to be optional of course, cause some would find it super helpful, others super annoying.

Email notifications already exist, and if your email is a gmail, you can set it to use pop-up notifications on getting new email.  that's what I use, at least!

Email is just as slow, in my opinion. I would be for this kind of update, though I don't know if it's feasible. We'd have to check with antiaverage, probably.

I use notifications for new PMs as well, but they require you to reload the page.

If you use Chrome, new emails pop up on your screen (if you enable it) whenever you're logged into your email, so setting that serves as instant PM notificaiton, at least until the forums get this feature.

oh I see, so you just go to a new tab with your email open so you can get what I asked psudao-like.
So yeah, I guess people want this feature!

Yes, if you have the forum open in a tab I could have it poll for new messages without reloading and it could pop up a simple notification that you have a new PM. This will be some work, but I can look in to it at some point. I will leave this topic open until it is done.
