I need someone who is totally 1337 at the codes on the forum to help me. I want to know how to do stuff where if you click something in post x, it scrolls you down to something else in post x, and complicated stuff like that.

Line you're anchoring to

and then Link thing here

I looked up on the whole forums "Back to Top" and found and quoted this (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=1190.0) to get the code for it. And the above doesn't work only because of the nobbc tags.

I have lots of experience with advanced forum code stuff and I've been planning on doing a tutorial on that. Unfortunately I've been very busy lately, but when I have time, I will do that tutorial.

Most of the advanced stuff is really simple actually, but if people don't know how to do it, it doesn't matter how simple it is.

Timer made a Guide/Tutorial Here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16518.0.html)...though it doesn't have all the codes.

(And you can get a slave to do it for you SG :P.)

I'm going to take a different approach with it because I think that the tutorial by Timer is not very useful to absolute newbies. It's too technical. Instead of giving simple examples of different kinds of tables, it goes and just explains what the different tags mean. Problem with that is that many of the people who look for help on this, are not necessarily interested in learning the code, they just want to get it done. If they were interested in the technical stuff, they would have used Google to learn BBcode and there would be no need for even make these tutorials.

I think that templates that users can simply copy-paste are much more useful because user don't have to spend time trying to really understand the code, but they will probably start to understand it later after they have been doing it for a while.

For example giving users this:

Code: [Select]
[table]
[tr]
[td]Row 1, Column 1[/td]
[td]Row 1, Column 2[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]Row 2, Column 1[/td]
[td]Row 2, Column 2[/td]
[/tr]
[/table]
Row 1, Column 1Row 1, Column 2
Row 2, Column 1Row 2, Column 2
.. is a good place to start because all they need to do is replace that text without actually knowing anything about the technical side of things.

To avoid too much vertical scrolling, you could do it like this:

If you picked  :aether Aether
If you picked  :air Air
If you picked  :darkness Darkness
If you picked :death Death
If you picked :earth Earth
If you picked :entropy Entropy
If you picked :fire Fire
If you picked :gravity Gravity
If you picked :life Life

Although usability-wise, there are some problems. For example the "click here" spam. As a general rule, it's better to have the text itself act as a link instead of having regular text followed by a "click here" link.

You could make it so that the title says something like "Which Element Did You Choose?", and then it would just list all the elements, maybe in the same order as they are in the game.
