It really bugs me there being a sticky in the buff/nerf this card section, and no one following it. When told to, most completely ignore the people pointing it out.

This forum section is for posting card buffing suggestions.

Here's what you do:

1. Pick a card that you think is weak and needs buffing (you can only pick ones that haven't been already picked)
2. Start a new topic where you include a picture of that card and a short explanation on why you think this card needs a buff, and how it should be buffed.
3. Add a poll that says something like: "How do you think this card should be buffed?". Poll options could look something like this:

  • "The card is perfect. It should NOT be buffed".
  • "The card needs a minor buff -> *insert buff here"
  • "The card needs a medium buff -> *insert buff here"
  • "The card needs a major buff -> *insert buff here"
  • "The card should be totally changed or removed from the game

That's just an example, feel free to use your own options.
I felt this was related to the poll alone. If it is though, then I dont see the point of even having the sticky.

I agree, and any threads that fail to do this after 1 warning should be locked.

I agree that the rules should be enforced.
In the Card idea and art section progress is halted unless the format is followed.
However before even that you see comments criticizing the lack of the format or correcting typos.
Could this solution be modified for use in the Buff/Nerf section?

You're not wrong, but as far as I know, the rules are already being enforced. You cannot expect a forum helper to jump on every thread with an error. After all you need to open every thread for that.

It's easy to slip up. There are tons of threads and every subsection has one or more stickies. You really shouldn't be too hard on new people. If they've seen it once they made a mistake, they probably won't do it again.

This is another example of a sticky that isn't any good. Even IF I read it, I can't really post in the section since it doesn't explain how to add images of a card.  Conclusion: Don't bother with it. If you try to participate, most likely you can get a telling off from some know it all who is not even a volunteer. (Back seat modding)

So I'd say keep working on the stickies and act against backseat modding becase it is really annoying.

Im not just talking about newbs. In that board, even vets ignore the sticky sometimes. http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,21325.0.html
It comes down to this. Why do we have the sticky if it isnt being used? One of the main reasons I believe the buf.nerf this card section have these stickies is because you need to have an actual reason for buffing it instead of just "This crd is l33t! No Coool Man! It R Kill me!"

I have a stupid suggestion.
Move the subsection and link to it from the sticky.

Another reason not to be too hard on the new people.  :))

Another thing. Veteran does not equal etiquette expert in every area of the board.

Finally, yes there are many silly threads. But even if you do add the picture, you can try to sell the biggest nonsense, so that isn't really an argument. I agree it is annoying, but it's a totally unrelated problem.

As always, using the Report To Moderator function will get something to the mods' collective attentions a lot faster. I know as far as I'm concerned that the Reports are the first thing I check every time I log on, and I can't read every single thread on the forum.

Yeah that was the stupid brainstorm idea.

Mostly I think just taking ownership of the problem ourselves and criticizesing the lack of proper form possbily with a report to the mods if needed will be sufficient. There are 5(+Daxx) of us I am sure that in our occasional glances at the Buff/Nerf threads if we demand correct format then we will fix a significant fraction of the threads.

Also describing what they are missing is often more useful than pointing to the READ ME thread from my experience in the CIA board.

I see nothing wrong with giving repeat offenders a warning to remind them. Forcing people to read the rules by moving the subsection hyperlink to inside a sticky or any similar method may sound appealing in concept, but there will always be people that literally ignore everything on the page and skip straight to the link. There's also the rule-abiding posters that do not notice subtle changes in the rules because their eyes just glaze over them after seeing them for so long. We all know that you and I may have read the End User License Agreement once or twice, but nowadays we just skip to "I Agree" because we hope a combination of memory power and common sense will pull us through. It's the same thing with the fender benders happening in this forum.

As always, using the Report To Moderator function will get something to the mods' collective attentions a lot faster. I know as far as I'm concerned that the Reports are the first thing I check every time I log on, and I can't read every single thread on the forum.
On this note, I would really like a set of guidelines posted somewhere detailing what kinds of posts should be reported. Decks posted under Rainbows when they belong under Quartets, decks that belong in Deck Help, jesting decks that should be moved to Humor, out-of-place introductions, unproductive posts that are a single meme image, posts that have zero relevance to the topic, necros, overheated arguments, advertising, posts that do not follow stickied guidelines (as discussed in this thread), etc. It might just be me but frequenting multiple forums have really blurred this border for me, since each community has a different set of standards and rules.
