I've been confirming a ton of bugs lately and had a different system with boards and stuff in mind than just a single thrown together "Report a bug" section with 80 pages of stuff to read through if you want to make sure you're not posting an already existent bug, in which case not even I would get angry over quadruple posted bugs anymore. On top of that it's much easier for people to post bugs: no need for special formatting, just need sufficient information on the bug to reproduce it. Would probably have gone ignored on the previous forum so let me suggest it here :p
Section would basically have a main section with a sticky explaining the division in three subsections and default stuff (READ ME FIRST) which would be:
Unconfirmed Bugs: the only section every member can start a thread in on top of replying to existent threads. Every new found bug goes here for evaluation/confirmation. = main section.- Confirmed Bugs: most members can only post replies here. Bugs that have been confirmed are moved here by the Bug Hunter (or whatever you want to call this section's manager ) Threads stay open to new replies only for the sake of providing additional information: like "it only happens if blablabla".
- Bug Archive: all redundant threads are locked and moved here, fixed bugs or non-bugs (in case of doubt bugs should be moved to confirmed bugs to let zanz decide whether or not it is a bug) are also moved here for later reference in case of returning bugs. Normal members can't post threads here, not sure about usefulness of new posts.
Ideally, thread movement should happen within a week by the Bug Hunter. This system may make it easier for common users, but takes more effort from the Bug Hunter, if that's a problem, I may have a solution to that, too
Edit: new subforums are up, with an active bug hunter for sure
