Hey guys, I know I'm new here, but I am familiar with forums in general.  Check this out;

A new forum feature, that if, in the content of a message, there is an @ symbol and directly after it your name

(@ajit)

Then I will get a PM with a link to that page, so that it is easier to keep track of when people respond to you directly.

Accompany it with an easy way to disable it so that you don't get PM spammed if you don't want to.

It has some nice advantages over subscribing through e-mail to a specific topic as well.

I've never seen this on a forum, but this is a function on Facebook, and would be even more useful on a forum.

I hate to be the party pooper here but this is not going to happen. It's a good idea, but the problem is that, just like all software, our forum software has limitations. We cannot simply have whatever we want, unless that option is part of our forum software or there is a plugin made for that purpose. In this case our forum software doesn't have this option, nor is there a plugin like available, which means that this suggestion is not possible.

Only way to do it would be to spend hours coding that plugin ourselves, and since this feature is not crucial by any means, I don't see the point in making that plugin.

Good idea, but unfortunately not going to happen.

Perhaps I'll go to an SMF development forum and request/recommend a plug-in for that ability.
