Deck Archive

This is something I've been thinking about a long time now.

Plan is to make this "Deck Archive" with all the decks on this forum( well, most of them). The idea is to build a similar system we had with card ideas: one place to post decks, and another place where there are compilation threads.

Only difference to Card Ideas section is that we won't be voting. all deck ideas are moved.

Decks are listed based on what they are used against (Anti-FG, Half-Bloods, top-50, etc.). This ensures easy access to a specific type of deck.

Here's what it could look like:

Deck section is divided into 2 parts:

1. Decks by type
2. Decks by purpose

Part 1 would be the sections we have now (apart from "Anti-FG"):
- Mono
- Duo/Trio
- Rainbow

Part 2 would be one forum section titled "Deck Archive", with a bunch of threads titled "AI3", "Top-50", "False Gods", etc. This section would be read-only.

All deck ideas would be posted in part 1. They would later be copied to part 2 by Deck Helpers. Process would be almost identical to what we use with Card Ideas.

I'm still not sure what would be the best way of doing this. Right now I have basically three different choices, and I cannot do anything before I know which one to choose.

What are the three choices?

Really, the "Deck Archive" should be treated more like the "Card Ideas" section -- with 'layers' that start with 'untested concepts', move to 'tested decks', then 'good decks', then at the top are 'archetypes' that are commonly used and referred to.

Or something.
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

How about a simple and mapped out Directory, like a mini forum inside a forum?

Start with a big section

Deck Archives

Then break it down to

Single Element Decks
Double Element Decks

And so on untill you have up to Rainbow/FG decks

Then more detail.

Tested decks, high win rate, same strategy.
Tested Decks, medium win rate, fun strategy.
Ect.

Eventually, you will have the best deck archives evur :3

It really is quite jarring to see "Mono", "Duo", "Rainbow", and then "Anti-False God" out of nowhere. Basically, we have 3 options for categorization.

1) "Strength" of deck. Is it extensively tested? Does it work very well? Has it changed since it was first conceived? This is what Essence is suggesting - a tier-based archive.
2) "Color" of deck. This is simple - mono, duo, trio, and rainbow.
3) "Usage" of deck. Also simple - Level 3, Half-Blood, False God, PvP. The trouble comes in when this deck is good for more than one of these.

I'm not sure what Zac is proposing, but it seems to me that we have to choose one of these options and build on top of it. Either that, or a Labeling or Tag system, like the one Essence proposed some time before.

Hm...

1) "Strength" should be combined with 'Usage' (see below).

2) "Color" is probably the most reasonable choice - I mean, come on now. Our FORUM is layered out that way! ^_^

3) "Usage" can be a special indicator under each 'Color-specific' deck post. For example, when looking at certain rainbow decks, you can see a small table that looks like this:

ENEMY TYPESTRENGTH
Level 3:Very Strong
T50Moderately Strong
Half-BloodWeak
False-GodsWeak
PVPVariable
Basically, what I'm saying is: categorize each deck first and foremost by color (mono- :darkness vs. trio :air/ :life/ :fire vs. etc.), then have a table inside each deck post with a table (as above) stating its strength in the following categories. :D

Just my idea of what to do.

I do like that kind of nested navigation, but in terms of web usability, it has some problems because you need to go through 3-4 pages before getting to the information you are looking for. Most popular information should always be just a 2 clicks away.

But yeah.. I guess that could be one solution.

"Tested decks" is also a term I'm a bit worried about. What is a "tested deck"? When does and "untested deck" become a "tested" one? I don't know how we could define it in a simple way.

Here's what I'm talking about in that first post:

Deck section is divided into 2 parts:

1. Decks by type
2. Decks by purpose

Part 1 would be the sections we have now (apart from "Anti-FG"):

Hey that table idea is pretty cool. :) We could even use the icons to make it look more epic:

ENEMY TYPESTRENGTH
Level 3::time :time :time :time :time  Very Strong
T50:time :time :time :darkness :darkness  Moderately Strong
Half-Blood:time :darkness :darkness :darkness :darkness  Weak
False-Gods:time :darkness :darkness :darkness :darkness  Weak
PVPVariable
