dating needs fixed

Damn, that's an amazingly bad dating system. Does it scramble itself randomly?
I saw a post I made many weeks ago labeled as a few days ago.

I've never seen any problems with the post dates. It's hard for anyone to tell what the problem could be if you don't link to the post with the wrong date. Also make sure that it's not just an issue of the forums displaying D/M/Y when you expect M/D/Y, or the other way around.

If it isn't an M/D/Y - > D/M/Y (or vice versa) situation, is it possible that you looked at the "last post" datestamp rather than the time of the original thread?

As someone already stated, maybe it's just some formatting issue? There are so many different date formats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country) it's easy to confuse something..

And.. maybe some formats are more logical than others XD

Except the date is written with the month spelled out, like: June 12th, 2012...

It's set to however you want it to be set.

(Though, you're totally right that the default (Month DD, YYYY) isn't exactly ambiguous. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to learn that it defaulted to different things depending on your location.)

Actually, it depends on what is your profile setting fo rthe date format.
Go Profile -> Modify Profile -> Look and Layout

On that page the 2nd entry is Time-format where you can choose how you want it displayed for you -- there are 5 different choices.
E.g. I'm using the YYYY-MM-DD format, but you can choose typical European as well as American style formats.

And I've never experienced any problems either, so unless OP shows some screenshots I tend to believe it to be  matter of ignorance on the date-format (as others pointed out).

Another thing is that if you're not logged in, it will have your post time in GMT (+/- 0), which may be different from what you'd see normally by up to quite a bit, depending where you live. That might make things seem like they were posted yesterday or so when they were in fact posted today and so on and so forth.
