Buff OR Nerf Attitude https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=33211.msg419042#msg419042

There are a lot of official polls and even forum sections that are strongly divided into Buff or Nerf, with no acknowledgment how a mix could be a better way of improving balance. For a lot of cards they're too powerful in a certain situation or too weak in a certain situation. Flooding for example is too good vs spam decks but is less useful vs the vast majority of few creature decks.

It's not that I don't think it's possible to suggest berfs, as I think it's called here. In fact "berfs" are suggested (as is evident by the existence of its own term). However I think the forum carries an inherent buff or nerf exclusive attitude that does have a tangible, and harmful, effect.

IMO: Combine "Buff this Card!" and "Nerf this Card!" into "Suggest Card Changes". Not only are those forum sub sections wrong for being so polar, but they are also emotionally charged titles, encouraging angry outbursts and feelings of injustice, which has no place in logical discourse.

Sounds like a pretty good idea!

However, some points I would also like to cover in its opposition
  • Putting 'nerf this card' and 'buff this card' is, in my opinion, a lot more organized than having them in the same section. In the vast majority of cases, the 'change necessary' for a card is a nerf or a buff
  • I also do not understand how this will change what you describe as illogical. Yes, the subsection is now balanced. However, what about the actual topics? People who begin a specific topic in 'change this card' will most likely ask for a 'nerf' or a 'buff', and the debate will simply begin again
  • Your second sentence that I quoted seems a little incorrect in its own way. Although it may be true that the two forum subsections are polar, the topics inside them (which is really what matters) is not really. Most polls that I have seen, has options not only stating different 'buff' or 'nerf' ideas in their respectable subsections, but also options stating 'no buff / nerf needed' and 'this card is actually NOT OP or UP. the opposite of what is being suggested should be done'.
  • Another point on the second sentence if you don't mind. If you look at the two subsections from a psychological point of view, it may be true that they encourage 'angry outbursts' and 'feelings of injustice'. However, from a realistic point of view of this forum, which has above average members who are more than often very respectful towards each other, I only feel that this sentence has only been added thinking you may not have enough of an argument (no offense intended, as I would sometimes do that myself :P).
Sorry if this is rather unorganized x-x and nothing against you..

Like I said in the second paragraph, mixed suggestions do happen, and of course I'm not saying that there aren't a lot og logical people here who engage in good productive discussion, I'm just saying that the attitude of the forum (forum in this case being the forum website, not the people who use the forum) is a negative influence.

Yea, this is definitely something we should do. It's silly to have both "Nerf Nova!" and "Buff Nova!" topics. I'm not that worried about "emotionally charged titles" because people should be allowed to express their emotions, and if they go too far, we have moderation for that. But from logic standpoint, it probably makes more sense to combine the sections.

There's also the card sections where they have posts about all the cards, divided into each element.  That seems like a good place to put such things.
