You need 30 posts, and then when you edit your profile, you can have a pre-set avatar related to elements. At 200 posts you can choose whatever you want.

Ah, thanks for that.  I was coming in here about to make more-or-less the same topic, asking how I upload a picture to use as an avatar.  So I guess I can never mind that and make this post to boost my count a little.  ;)

On a tangent... every time I change my forum profile, the avatar resets to blank. For example, if I change my signature, I also have to go through the avatar gallery and find the avatar I was using again. Pain in the ass! Thanks for listening.

Well... now that you have enough posts, if you want to keep your current avatar, right-click and copy the image location and then paste it into the 'specify avatar by URL' field.  ;)

But, I agree during that 170 post period it was annoying.
