It's been brought up several times now by other users, so I think this is a valid suggestion - why not have a Other Games section in Off-Topic? The section could be used by users to discuss other Flash/Console games on the internet as well as Game Design if they are interested in doing so.

Yes, actually. A very good idea.

I'm inclined to agree, although I believe the original concern was that since this is a game forum it might pull users away or something.
But I think discussion of other games happens often enough that we mind as well give a place for it.

Various other forums have similar sections for such discussion, and I haven't seen problems with them (Not to mention we already have had several threads on Off-topic about other games). I don't think drawing users away from Elements will be an issue.

Erm. I agree. This is all.
-
I completely agree. People must be allowed to know the splendor of Fire Emblem. And I think the concern that it will "drag players away" is kind of ludicrous, most people on the elements forums are pretty avid players.
-
We're not allowed to discuss other games. My old Diablo and RotMG threads got locked and swept away, something about this is an Elements forum so it's for discussing Elements only.
It's fair rule since it is SG's forum, if you wanna talk about other games go somewhere else. I dunno, Elements doesn't hold my attention 365 days a year, so I often leave and then come back. Some people just leave though, and if we had for example a Tyrant thread some people might have stuck around.

IIRC, there used to be a thread stickied in Off-Topic somewhere that specifically mentioned No Threads about Other Online Games cause that would be "Uncool" or something, but I can't find it anymore.
That's what I was referring to.
My personal opinion agrees.

Bah! I was looking all over for that topic so I could link it in my reply too. Lol, how the heck did you find it?

Search appears to have been fixed :D

The internet is full of all kinds of useful and interesting web sites. If you find something cool, please share it with others by posting it here. You can post basically anything you want, but posting links to other online games is uncool because this forum is for Elements. Hopefully everyone can understand that.
Thanks.
This says talking about other online games would be uncool, so any other game should be fair game, yes? Additionally, bit technical here, but she really only said dont post links to other games ;) Also, I'd hate to be fighting an official whose been here much longer than me, but I really don't think talking about another online game would be 'uncool'. I've played many online games (I spend a lot of time on Kong) and I would see neither harm nor lack of coolness in letting someone know about one game or another. Pretty much the only "other" game that I'd say should be avoided is big pay-to-play MMO's that really eat up time (and are, quite frankly, really uncool ;) ).

Yeah I've noticed there isn't a games section, which is a strange absence on a game forum. I can understand no talking about other card games as they are a direct competitor (despite the fact that no other forum I've ever seen do this), but to discourage talking about all games? If the fear is that discussing such things will cause people to devote more time to things that aren't playing elements, really there shouldn't be any off topic discussion at all. If other games can take a significant amount of time away from Elements playing, stuff like books and movies can for sure.
-
Yep it would be interesting to see what other games elements players like.
And I don't see why elements should fear to allow publicity for other games. I think a game which succeeded to live 4 years, with lots of players, shouldn't be so unsure of its own qualities (by the way I think 100% of players know many other games and still play elements).
-
i completely agree with the creation of a game section besides elements on the forum
i made a thread about SSBB in off-topic to see if someone here still plays that awesome game and maybe play some wifi with those people but i created it in tech talk section because i didnt know where to put it :S

This. If anything, statistics have shown that talking about other games on a forum for a particular game keeps people part of the community for this game and on this forum.

Coming up on three years, in May.
