Ah, how this thread makes me appreciate IRC all the more..
I'm on daily and for several hours, but we all live in different time zones. On IRC and a different forum I used to frequent, we made sure to have mods from all over the world, so that we could respond to problems ASAP. It's getting ridiculous how many users I have to ban in the elements chat. Hopefully we'll get more mods (from all over the world), since we can't move it to IRC. In any case, feel free to report anything to me and I'll be able to keep an eye out more effectively.
(That's another problem with the chat, btw. No highlight function. On IRC, I'll get a sound effect and the application bar will flash when someone says my nick or PM's me.)

While it's occaisionally fun to mess around with trolls, I think that sometimes in chat we just don't want to see them. Also, as Higs has stated, moderators aren't on 100% of the time - unfortunatley trolls run around 24/7.
Since there is no "Chat Suggestion", I posted in the next best area - the forum suggestions area.
I think we should have an "ignore" button implemented that allows us to prevent us from seeing messages from other users, with the user receving a small notification that they have been ignored, as well as giving moderators the ability to "mute" certain chatters. Here's how it would work:

Both "ignore" and "mute" can have a time limit, incase you feel the need to do so is only temporary, but you can also set it to "Forever" if you're certain the only thing you're dealing with is a troll and there is no mod around.
