8 man PvP tournament STARTING KIT

I think tournaments hope to avoid the glitches and desync with varying degrees of success. I guess what underlies this approach is the hope that the desync issue will be fixed in the near future.

Uhm sorry to rain on your parade buddy, but google attempts to speed up your search by suggesting popular search terms that share the letters of what your have typed so far. Anyway I think this should be stickied, so uzra if you want to debate the evil motives of Google or other conspiracy theories then I would suggest your commence doing so in the offtopic sub forum.

Yes, I do certainly realize that there are some users on this forum that do not possess a google account, but then again I assume (possibly incorrectly) that the majority will probably not be hosting tournaments right away and those that do will probably be quite serious about their undertaking. Thus I guess that a number of them will honetsly consider acquiring an account to make good use of the spread sheets. I mean registration takes all of ten seconds and the spread sheets are a fantastic tool that enable the whole thing to be more transparent and allow everyone to maintain an overview of the current match ups with relative ease.
The same charge could be levied at photobucket or imageshack too because most people do not have accounts with those services. However for long drawn out tournaments that could even involve qualifying rounds both the spreadsheets (to monitor progress) and the image hosting (to record without any lingering doubt who actually won) would be invaluable. I can understand your reasoning and the point you raise, but I do not think that it requires much time investment to register with either of the two services. Then again I have played in some kongai tournaments and closely followed the current championships so I may be biased towards the whole affair and possibly slightly spoiled by the luxury of having the spread sheets done for us by zakid.
Nonetheless I think it merits at least stating that people can make good use of these tools to streamline their tournament experience, especially if we do set up a league or championship for this forum. I think it is worth noting these services especially in light of the glitches and desync issues that currently plague a large number of pvp match ups. Anyways I think you post is excellent and my post was meant merely as an afterthought to the whole affair.

One of the problems I had with the silly elm league was the idea that in the event of both participants claiming victory the solution was: "you go again!", when this could easily be circumvented by screen-capping the endgame to relieve any doubt. It is also the reason I had to laugh when jmizzle claimed that Warr has a talent for organizing tournaments because it is quite clear to me that he has no idea how to run a tournament and his approach to disputes over the winner is both naive and fallacious.

Google is on it's way to controlling you.  Not intentionally but they own the #1 search engine, they own youtube and a host of other popular networking sites like facebook.  If there's something they don't want you to see they do have the power to hide it rather well.  There's already been cases of this.

What cases? I've always thought Google as a very respectable company. Kind of like the opposite of the "evil" Microsoft.

Google's motto actually used to be "Don't be evil," at least informally.

to stay on topic;
are you (people) using Elements in-game "PvP" for tournaments? I tested it with a friend, and how it works makes incremental delay, slowly but surely leading to a desync.
So, i don't get how you are doing those tournaments. Apart from using 2 very fast decks, of course...

I understand what you mean.

Google spreadsheets is great when you have bigger tournaments, leagues, whatever. But I think this kind of small tournament that goes from "lets do PvP" to finding the winner, all in less than an hour, it's easier and faster to just use our own forum tools.

All you need to do is to copy-paste that code, fill in the names, and the tournament can begin. Anyone can do it because you don't need any other accounts or anything.

Like I said, this is was not supposed to be a big thing like the TRL League. This is supposed to be just fast PvP fun.

Yeah, there are million different ways to do this but I thought using only tools provided by this forum would make things easier and faster. For example you need a Google account to make that spreadsheet. Does everyone here have a Google account?

When you start to type something into the google search it will suggest words or phrases you may be looking for.  Unless.. you search for certain things that google doesn't want laymen stumbling on.  Try bilderberg.  It's not an anomaly.  Slowly type

"robust mixture modeling using multivariate skew t distributions"

And see all the possible suggestions.. Bilderberg has far far far more results than that does. It's intentional.

I know how Google works but I still don't get what you are saying.

The more words you write in the search field, the less choices Google will give you. Not because Google doesn't want you to know something, but because more words means less chance of doing a popular search.
