newby q: how does farming work? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=12330.msg153835#msg153835

I see lots of posts saying to farm rares from T50s and listing players/decks to farm… but I don't get the process. When I click to play a T50 game I'm prsented with a random opponent, with no option to select from a list. And if that's the case, I don't see what good the farm list is. There must be something I'm missing.

Well there are 50 potential opponents in the t50. Play long enough and you will find ones that have decks with lots of rares that you can win.

Some people quit out if they face a deck that is not know to have rares.  This is generally a bad idea though.

So what I'm hearing is that opponent assignment is random but we should not quit difficult matches. And what I'm understanding is that checking the farming lists is useless since an informed player has no more options or choices available to him than an uninformed player has.

There is nothing wrong with quitting out of battles when searching for rares, as long as you don't care about score.
Quitting out, and only playing farms is a lot faster.  I used to do it a couple weeks ago when I wanted all the rares.  I didn't care about score at all.  And most of the electrum that you lose from quitting out, you gain back with elemental masteries on the farm decks, or selling some of the rares you have 6 of.

my record used to be 350 wins and 900 losses because of how many hundreds of games i quit out of.... but i didn't care about my record, and i got 6 of every rare in 2 days.   :))

...
an informed player has 1 very important option more:
he can choose if he want to farm t50.

say a player needs/wants/is searching for an eternity.
if he check the list and see that about 3 eternity farms are up, he may risk a bloody nose with his unupped deck.

you will loose 15 electrum each time you quit a game.
means: about every 4-6. game has to be a farm for not loosing money (with selling many of the rares you win, if you spinn them!).
it also depends on time when you are playing how many farms are up.

--> just quit t50 for rares if you are really despareate.

a lot of the time you run into about 20% farm decks.  So that equals 4 losses 1 win.  4*15= 60 electrum loss, 1 EM victory = 60-75 electrum gain.  So therefore you aren't losing any electrum.  And you are gaining electrum from the rares you don't need.  I know this worked for me.. i did it for hundreds of games, hundreds of losses... and i was not losing electrum... i was actually gaining.

even if the amount of farm decks is lower than 20%...  selling one pharaoh goes a long way to recovering losses.

It just depends on which is more important to you, your time or your score/electrum.  In my experience, you generally do lose score and electrum backing out against decks that you know aren't farms.  But as SickPillow said, if there are 10+ farms then you can come out even or close to it.  When I was finishing up my rare collection, I had a day with like 14 farms up, including Relic and Pharaoh/Squid farms.  I actually gained electrum and score that day (albeit just a few hundred or so score).  But I definitely made more money than I lost once I sold all those extra Relics/Pharaoh/Squids.  For me, playing t50 isn't all that fun.  All I want are the rares so I can make my decks.  Because of that, I skipped all non-farm decks because I don't want to waste my time playing monotonous FG decks.
