Twelfth Matchup: (Stop KillinG my Golums!)

For this matchup, there is the reigning champion:

Mono-Earth Shrieker Rush
The classic shrieker rush deck!  Fast and simple.  With the bestest, most overpowered creatures ever created by the zanzarinobeano.

Code: [Select]
6rk 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 77g 77g 77g 77g 77g 77g 77h 77h 77h 77h 77h 77h
Then there is the challenger:

 Korugar's Fire Rush
This deck was put up for testing by Korugar.  Its a fire rush deck with a slight bit of creature control, and a whole lot of permanent control.

Code: [Select]
5l9 5l9 5l9 5l9 5l9 5l9 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dk 7dl 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 7do 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7tb

Results:

I played 100 games for each side, 200 total.  (actually 243 games if you count farm decks)

Stats!:
 Mono-Earth Shrieker Rush:
Win/Loss= 84/16, 84%
Turns to win (TTW) of 6.95
16 Elemental Masteries
Points gained: 2052
Electrum gained: 2737

 Korugar's Fire Rush:
Win/Loss= 75/25, 75%
Turns to win (TTW) of 8.67
11 Elemental Masteries
Points gained: 1650
Electrum gained: 2205

All farm decks have been removed from the data.

Shrieker deck did great as usual.    84% win rate with no farm decks is totally solid.

Korugar's deck also did well, and ended up with a 75% win rate.  The deck usually does quite well against rainbow decks.  The large amount of explosions in the deck allow you to get rid of bothersome shields, as well as a couple other permanents.

As with other cremation fire decks, sometimes this deck has trouble getting started.   If you don't have a cremation card or no photon to use it on.. then you will just sit there.  One game was an extreme example, it was against a farm deck... where the deck took 15 turns to win.  That is some slow going against a deck that does nothing to interfere with you.

The deck relies on Lava destros to do damage, so if the opposing deck has creature control, you are automatically in trouble.  The deck lost 6 times against fire stall decks... and it lost in epic fashion.  It really has 0 chance of ever winning against this type of deck... lava golems can never get set up to do damage.
(shrieker btw won its games vs fire stall, more creatures + more hp= win)

The deck also does somewhat badly vs rush decks.  There weren't that many floating around this time..  but in a battle of pure speed, you will usually lose.  Sometimes you can save yourself with a nicely timed use of firestorm, but those times are rare.

Korugar's fire deck is totally playable at a 75% win rate (80% win rate if you factor in free wins vs farms)
But overall, Shrieker was still faster to play, and put up better numbers all around.

 Winner is Mono-Earth Shrieker Rush!

Thanks for trying it :) I knew about the occasional starting issues, but a draw that takes 15 turns to win against a farm deck is pretty bad(have you checked your luck meter lately? ;)). The most fun ones are where you start with a cremation, photon, fire tower and a couple golems. 14 damage from the bat is nice, even if uncommon. I've been thinking about adding in a couple SoGs to improve the win percent, though I suppose it would lose any element of speed, if I did....

i know.. 15 turns to win was a very extreme bad luck draw  :))
i was totally laughing while it happened.  (and thinking, "am i really going to have to kill this farm deck with all photons?")

of course the deck is usually much faster, or it wouldn't be winning so many games  :)

Heh, at least that one happened on a farm, I sometimes have to quit a few turns in if I'm up against a slow but sure deck with that kind of draw, to avoid an excruciating death :D

here's my variation of the popular shrieker rush deck

Code: [Select]
6rk 6rk 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 77a 77a 77a 77a 77a 77a 77g 77g 77g 77g 77g 77g

Since Mono-Earth Shrieker rush is doing so well, lets do mono-earth vs. mono-earth!

Hope it gets the same.

If you're up to it, you could try this variation of a Fire Rush, I find it to be quite nice :). Although t50 right now is pure Life Rushes xD.

?? = Fire Pendulum. Thinking of adding 1 more.

The antlion shrieker rush is pretty fast too.  If it can't overturn the winner NOTHING  ever will.

BTW.  Any results with the tool I sent you?

you know, i have been thinking the same thing for a while now... its sad, but i don't think any deck is really going to beat shrieker consistently.  (unless they nerf shriekers haha)
i was kinda thinking some deck would at least "get lucky" against it.. seeing that i play only 100 games of each.

i tried out your tool, but i haven't been using it too much yet.  i'm not sure that it is worth doing for some of the matchups. (and when i type notes it stops me   :(  )
where i think maybe it would be worth doing,  would be when i do Rematches with the decks that I ranked highest.
also i will need to work out an average electrum value for the spins, which will take me quite a while because I would need an very high amount of data for it.
