Death

TEXT:
The next 2 cheap cards you play (less than 8 quanta) are paid with HP instead of quanta. Their costs are tripled.

ART:
odideph
IDEA:
odideph (though this idea had been suggested before, like here )
NOTES:
Simple, instant anti-lockdown card.

Details:
-The cost is paid in HP, it is not damage dealt to yourself and thus, cannot be reflected or turned into healing by Shard of Sacrifice.
-Free cards are still free but they will count as a card casted during the effect.
-It only works during your own turn, does nothing to the opponent.
-Creature abilities are unaffected, only playing cards from your hand.
-Shard of Integrity counts for 1 cast.
-Can cause suicide.
-If you are under the effect of this, even if you have the quanta to cast the card, your HP will be used instead.

It lets you play 2 cards then the effect disappears, but nothing prevents you from casting The Blood Price again that same turn.

Trivia:
-The name was inspired by a quote from a famous show set in a medieval-fantasy universe: “Did you pay the gold price or the iron price for those things?”
-Artwork (alongside a few others) is available in the art section for you guys. Comments on it are welcome too.

Interesting idea. I think it should have at least a small cost though, maybe 1 :rainbow or something.
Doubling the effect on the upped version would seem to be a pretty major deal though.
It will definitely have a big impact on metagame since it would allow you to cast any card regardless of quanta type.
I am more than a little worried about this making rush decks too powerful though.
Granted 30 health is a lot to pay for a first round dragon... but then again you would have a DRAGON on the first round. So much for Immolate dominating rushes.
(just a thought here: 3 card combo - this + dragon + miracle = 1st round dragon, only 1 health paid)
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

(just a thought here: 3 card combo - this + dragon + miracle = 1st round dragon, only 1 health paid)

I was thinking of a quanta cap like, "can't play cards with cost higher than X this way" to balnce it, but i went for the amount of cards instead. Looks like the quanta cap was better?
By the way: that would have the exact same counters as every 1-badass-creature-rush: RT, mutation, BB, Congeal...

Pretty sure this has been done before...

That wouldn't surprise me much, but i don't remember seeing one myself. If someone provides a link to a very similar card proposition i can always put it in the "idea" part just for the sake of it.

->Phase Dragons (granted that would be a 39 health cost instead)
This also allows double fractals

I'm not saying its unstoppable or that it will completely break the game, just trying to point out some things to consider for balance purposes.

The best thing to use this with is Miracle; as long as you have at least 37 HP (yay for SoDs), you will be able to heal up to 99 (+18 for each SoD).

Anyways, the concept of using your Life to pay for quanta costs is nothing new, but I think the presentation of this concept is rather nice. Plus, I think all the other card ideas have been archived already (which means something about the community's reaction to this mechanic).

About miracle, if that sounds OP (which i don't really think it is, considering it's a miracle + this + another card combo just to play said other card), it can be fixed by replacing the limit: instead of 1(2) cards, it would be "cards cheaper than X(X) quanta".

About the other cards of this mechanic being archived, does it mean that this concept is not appreciated (just asking)?

When you submit cards into the Crucible, they go into polls, and each cycle the cards voted highest move to the next level and the cards voted the lowest get archived.

So yeah, it means it didn't do well in the polls.

Miracle, Fractal and Sky Blitz drain all hp as part of the cost.

Nerf? The drain is a quanta cost. The effect is to convert all quanta costs into hp costs.

PS: No. There will be plenty of cards to cast with hp and then (or before) cast advanced spells with the saved quanta after the effect expires.

No, the drain is an effect that occurs upon activation of the card. How you activate the card shouldn't change any effects unless outlined by the card's effect itself.
