Death is fine.  Not everything related to destruction is in fire (shockwave, pulverizer, etc.). And yes, decay is slow destruction, but I really don't think we need to be that picky with card names and their resultant effects.

Death just doesn't seem to fit the spirit. If it were "poison a random creature in your opponent's hand" then yeah, death would be perfect. When I think of :death, I don't think of pure destruction in this manner. Mostly everything in death is slow, while this is immediate.

Spine carapace's effect doesn't fit life in terms of 'spirit', but it exists.

Also, I personally feel that "fitting the spirit" of the element needs to be more flexible.  A few cards that may be stretching the theme should be fine.  I believe the rigid thinking is partly what's making it difficult to reduce the power gap between 'strong' elements and 'weak' elements.

You might want to change the upgraded card name solely because it will be confusing with a Decay card and a Decay FG who doesn't have Decay in his deck.

Other than that, I don't really think that the upgraded card is worth it.  Why bother if you would need time or darkness for it to make a difference?  Death has *minimal* synergy with the two (Eclipse/Nightfall affects Death creatures and Skeleton's ability + Reverse Time) already, but I don't see anyone playing a Precog-decay Reverse Skeleton deck or a Nightfall + Nightmare Decay any time soon.
This thing seemed dead inside. It seemed like an automaton, trying to act like as if it was alive. The effect was unsettling.
Orianna made a sound that supposed to a girl's squeal of glee and hugged The Ball. While it might have been touching, it was unfortunately only horrifying.

To be honest, I was going to put it in :fire to start with. But let's face it, who wants to see :fire get card denial on top of everything else?

So I asked in Chat and we narrowed it down to :death who needed something like this. And so it was.

It could go well with :earth, I suppose. Earth doesn't have many denial cards, and it could be called 'asteroid' or something similar.

Unless, that is, you're decided on the name and it can't be changed.

  • I like this card.
  • I'm not worried about :time :darkness :death trios. The duo version of ghostmare already has to make a ton of quanta in order to use its combo fast.
  • Due to the above, I think discard is potentially more interesting while unlikely to be abused.

Earth has one of the strongest denial cards in the game. Death needs it more in my opinion.
