Not to mention very powerful. Besides other CC that deals average damage, it also drains quanta from the opponent for the target's cost, effectively making them pay double.

True, but the card's cost is very high, except if you use it as a CC in rainbow decks, in which case the card's cost is very low, lol. Well, it may be better to be moved into the  or  elements, since as an other card is too cheap & powerful in  decks.

It's very hard to say whether a card's cost is high or not if it's other quanta. Other quanta makes it obscenely high for mono and duos, but extremely cheap for rainbows.

This should probably not be a type "Other" spell. Would work better in    or maybe even  . I think it will be too tricky to balance appropriately otherwise.

New version is made :

1. Reduce damage to 2. This significantly reduces the CC aspect of the card to merely a "condition" required to trigger quanta denial. No one will use this card for pure CC so it won't have an overlapping role with existing CC.

2. Normal version no longer drains quanta. Instead, it destroys opponent's quanta directly. This is followed by a minor cost decrease.

3. Upgraded version costs a bit more but it allows you to drain quanta from opponent for compensation. Unfortunately, the HP of upgraded creatures is usually higher, making them harder to kill. This balances the power of the card.

I can't help but imagine that somehow there's an abuse for this...
As for the idea-VERY powerful spell. The CC is weak, but the denial effect is huge. It's an interesting idea, but very worrisome.
Also to note: Sanctuary will block the denial, but still...

Let me put this for you :



Case 1 :

Consider killing a dragon of 5 HP.

2 for shockwave / Eagle Eye to reduce HP to 1 / 2

4  for quanta vortex to kill the dragon

total quanta usage : 6 quanta to destroy 10 quanta of opponent.

Opponent loses 10 quanta and a dragon (one card)

You lose 6 quanta and  2 spell cards.

Net result : you lose 1 card in exchange for destroying 4 net quanta of opponent and prevent further damage caused by the dragon.


Case 2 :

You use a single lightning on opponent's dragon of 5 HP

New result : You lose 2  to prevent further damage caused by the dragon.



That doesn't seem too unbalanced for me, at least in the case of a 10|5 dragon.

Hrm...I was personally thinking of something like RT, where you basically delay a creature for at least 1 turn, and deny the opponent the creature's casting cost.
This, would destroy the creature, while forcibly removing the creature's casting cost from the opponent's quanta pool.
In effect, after playing a 10 quanta dragon, if someone kills it with this, you then lose another 10 quanta. The upgraded DRAINS this, allowing for a nasty combo with Mindgate.

i like that this card is now entropy. i dont think its OP at all, and it really fits entropies theme. hates on fire though, but so does all damage effects.
