and how will you ever get the  :life? Assuming you are playing against denial, this is rather difficult.
"havent decided what it will metamorphisize into yet, i am thinking some sort of weakish air creature butterfly." (see notes)
I hope this metamorphose packs a lot more punch than the larve.
This card is both situational and UP====> Doesn't get my vote at all.

I like the autocast mechanic, Maybe make a series?

yeah i was thinking this could make for a series, it will be hard to balance though.  the butterfly will not pack much of an attack punch (that would be stepping on graboids toes)  but i am going to give it a cool effect, balancing out a soft PC.

eh i think elements needs more encouragement for triple color decks.  i had to make the card slightly below average efficiency wise so it wouldnt be overpowered.  its a fine line to find (i agree i havent found it yet) of making it good but not too good against denial, while being below average but not bad in other cases.

In addition to this, it's also quite UP. You get quanta modified and your compensation is basically just 1 :life? Even then, you need a :earth + :air duo to run this, and earth and air don't have much synergies together. Butterfly also seems sorta UP, with its stats being the same (shouldn't it at least be 1|1 better than the larva?) and its ability seems too expensive and not useful enough.

As a player, why would I want to pack this instead of grabboid?

Or you could make an :entropy / :air deck with these and diss shields. This would only require your opponent having creatures.




I don't think Gusting Butterfly should be a standalone card, as it makes it too much like Graboid/Shrieker.

If you want to make a counter to denial. Why can'tnyou make the denial "backfire"? Your opponent discord could scramble his own quanta. With BH he drains his own quanta....

another Idea might be that the quanta larve has the ability to shield you from denial for 1 turn. (activated ability). that way your opponent has to deal with the larve first if he want's to deny you further...

My final Idea would be to propose a series of this.the theme would be the autocast mechanic. I like this mechanic a lot.
The way I see this we could create a series of cards that can be cast with lower cost (or for free depending on the balancing) in a special situation. (sort of "trapcards"
an example would be "when a creature died this turn you may cast this card for free"

yeah didnt realize about the synergy with diss / solar shield at first but decided it adds another dimension to the card, which is good.

an activated ability does not help you if you are locked down.  the goal was to make it a soft counter as opposed to a hard counter like sanctuary.  originally i wanted a creature that grew stronger every time your quanta was drained, but that would be too swingy.  i don't think this mechanic can pull off being an entire series, but i will def make a few more and a creature dying was going to be my next one.

I'm glad flutterby is not dead. New ability is interesting too.

A crazy rainbow with Solar Shield/Nightmare/Photon/Quanta Worm/Light Dragons could work with this.
