I think that Fractal (I know, I know, everyone has heard it before) + Rain of Fire is abnormally powerful in this case.
The only way RoF will hit this card is if the opponent casts it so it'd be their fault. In fact, fractalling this card does almost nothing unless you plan on bolting and cremating a whole lot.
Doh! You can tell I haven't used Fire in awhile.

Too specific.  Should just be "when destroyed".  (Sorry if someone said that, didn't read the thread.)

No it shouldn't.
I'm not sure where you got the idea, but it is supposed to be used within mono, not with any random card.

This is already in the crucible, but I'm going to comment on it anyway.

Firstly, I LOVE IT!

Minor Phoenix Egg's are much better than a Minor Phoenix in a Lava Destroyer rush because you now only need 1 tower 1 egg and 1 cremation to get it started, adding to the percentage of time you can rush them turn 1. When your BLight's are hiding, these might not be. On top of that, you start of with additional damage and not a 0/7 ash. Destroyer Rushes are already the fastest rushes around, as proven by V2 - Fire Tweaked to Max Speed. This card can improve start up efficiency and increase damage potential, making it the dream card of all Pyromaniacal Rushers.

That being said, this card is definitely OP. Enough people already have issues with Cremation + Minor Phoenix, claiming that it's too cheap. The idea behind Cremation was for you to lose some to gain some. The skill Revive completely cheats on that account. And this card hatching into a creature that has Revive, while giving you quanta, is just... too much. As much as I would love to use this, I must admit that it seems too powerful to be balanced. Looking at its unnupgraded form, you can make use of nearly half cost Phoenixes in like, a Phoenixbow. This in itself is insanely OP.

*edit*

Actually, my first thought was a 0 cost hatch ability, but that makes Phoenix Egg way more OP. My intention was to get out cheaper Phoenixes after waiting 1 turn to do the hatching, but that means that Fractal is way too powerful. INSANELY powerful. While yes, the enemy has a shot at killing the combo, if they don't get it done pronto, they're @#$%ed.

Now I'm at a loss as to how you can balance this. It makes no sense to have an egg that effectively gets you a Phoenix for the same cost, so it would need to be cheaper. Yet at less cost, generating Phoenixes is OP with Fractal. And at the same time, it seems like waiting x turns for it to auto hatch is just as bad, because most people that use fire are looking for speed. The way you have it now, requiring a fire spell to activate it seems like the best idea, yet still insanely OP when used correctly. The only other option is for it to die permanently when hit with Immolation/Cremation but live on as a Phoenix/Minor Phoenix if hit by the others.

Note: This entire speal was for the benefit of the Trials. The card is still epically awesome in my mind.

As I said earlier, I realize the card is OP in the current game environment, but that will change as the card pool increases.

Cremation rushes will not reign supreme forever, and when enough cards come out and enough deck archetypes come out to rival cremation rush, than it will be fine.

Even now cremation rushes took a heavy beating in their TTW from the new AI3, which shows just how vulnerable they are.

The card itself is balanced, but the metagame effect is not. So when the metagame changes, this card has the option to be added to the game. It's not a card for now, but for future updates a long time away.

No, it wont be balanced as the metagame changes. if the metagame changes, and there are more effective decks than cremation ones, then this card is added, it will still be broken.

Let me put it like this.
Youve got deck tiers
God
High=cremation
MediumHigh=Speedbows
Medium=mono
Low=others
Garbage

Now you have 2 options. Nerf Cremation Decks, or make cards that make other decks more effective.

So we got some cards added.

God
High=cremation,speedbows
MediumHigh=mono
Medium=
Low=others
Garbage

Then we decide, Hey, Cremation decks arent better than other decks. Makin them a LITTLE faster wont make them OP.  so this card is added to the game. Here is where the problem comes though. that would still shift the balance to this.

God=Cremation
High=speedbows
MediumHigh=mono

Decks should not ever go into the God tier. If they are there, they are WAY too powerful.

Aside from all that, if Zanz wanted it to be possible to have 12 phoenixes out without using fractal/tu he would have made ash a standalone card. Basically, I dont like the idea, not really any of it.  Even its very core, is all about speeding up rush decks. That doesnt need to be done. Other decks need to be made more effecient. Otherwise, rush ones will reach the God tier.

Hehe. Yeah, I thought about Fractal Eggs+UG, but naturally UG wouldn't be a fire spell if this was coded into the game. It's a spell-like effect created by :fire though, so it's a fun concept to think about.

True. An aether deck with entropy pendulums would probably be able to pull this off quite easily too. Hmmm. I wonder how that would technically be considered...
