I made it random so that it could jump to either field which also limits the possible abuse of chained voodoo dolls.

Essentially this card is designed to eventually wipe the entire field, though as stated, played carefully you can cloak your monsters at the right time to force it on your opponent.

The alternative is to remove the jump effect, though personally I want to keep it, and make it a simple turn by turn stacking poison.

I have a question. If the creature with Pestilence dies would the entire poison count jump to the next creature or start a new Pestilence on the creature ?

I think this is not mentioned in both card desription or notes. I assumed it to start a fresh new poison counter on next creature which is underpowered when jumping to a random creature.

That was teh key idea that set this apart from outbreak,
this spreads slower, but is more devastating

I personally prefer this to Epidemic.  When I first saw that card, it seemed messy for it to jump to 2 new creatures each time, especially because Plague, Parasite, or Toadfish would be usually be more efficient and effective.

Pestilence is quite brutal in the long run indeed, but also nigh unstoppable.  Other than Cloak and Immaterial, is there any other way to counter this?

There are many cards being made with effects to cleanse monsters, those would be the immeadietly effective counter.
