IDEA:
moomoose
NOTES:
soft pc for water- short duration, broad reach, but affects both players equally (minus this card itself).

non-stackable means if the permanent has the potential to stack, it is not frozen, even if it is currently only a stack of 1. this basically protects towers, pendulums, some shards and anything else that i am not recalling.

permanents with timers/counters will continue to increment/decrement while this card is in play.  permanents with abilities which require activation will also not be useable. shields for both players will be ignored for the duration. weapons will not attack.

basically, it is a sundial for permanents with a slightly extended duration, but without an added clickable ability.

That would be OP I think since rainbow deck with hourglass and mindgate are going to sit and hope they draw a good card. Also shield and weapon are non-stackable permanents so would they get frozen?

your hourglass and mindgate would be frozen, too.  it even mentions that in the very first line of the notes if you were unable to deduce the mechanic from the card text itself (it lacks the term "opponent's")

and yes, weapons and shields would also be frozen.  it even mentions weapons in the notes.

im going to presume that you rated the idea as 1 star, which reflects more poorly on you than it does on this card, thanks.

Gotterdammerung comes swiftly in EtG eh?

I like the concept overall, but I think it may be a little OP given the cost since it very potently thwarts weapons and most if not all shields.
(Does bonewall count as "stackable" ... its kind of a grey area I think)

Given the short duration, it shouldn't be game breakingly OP, but I do think a cost bump would be good.

Shields are some element's only real line of CC / defense. Having a 2 :underworld card that can nullify them completely, even if only for a couple turns, seems a little too potent to me.

In some sense, this card is actually MORE powerful than current "Hard" PC because, if I'm reading it right:
1) It can affect a very large number of permanents at once (albeit at the cost of freezing your own as well)
2) it will nullify any new permanents that are played.
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

again, it effects your own permanents, rendering your own shields/weapons/etc frozen for the same duration, its a significant balancing mechanism, especially in water where permanents can provide key support

I understand that it freezes your permanents too, I even noted it in several places in the analysis. That is indeed a potent balancing mechanism. I'm just not so sure it is a strong enough to warrant such a low cost.

Yes I agree water does rely greatly on its shield for protection, but at a cost of 2 :water , this card is easily splashed into almost ANY deck.

Even deflagrate has a cost of 3 :underworld . I think this card should be on par with that.

My reasoning is that deck strategies exist that make little to no use of permanents beyond pillars and pendulums.

I am worried that this card will provide too much benefit for such deck strategies as it will allow them to seriously disrupt other decks that do need non-stacking permanents (namely shields and weapons).

On a related note, will the freeze affect immaterial permanents (e.g. hope, morning star, etc)?

As an aside, I do really like that this provides a more effective counter to Dim Shield and Bonewall than standard PC. That is something that I think many players will applaud greatly.
