This is a great idea, but right now it has no use. Very rarely, I think, people have to discard, so why it cannot be used with fractal, I don't know. Unless, of course, you wanted to fractal Psion/Phase Recluse and still be able to play a creature. Hmm...

soft counter to nightmare is what i was going for.

I like the idea of the autocast, but I dont  the ability. It´s too expensive and useless. I would say something like:

  : Get a random ability (if it has cost will be  or  .)

An idea.

The second ability doesn't really intrigue me, but the play if discarded intrigues me. Opens up combos with fractal as well as nightmare counter. What happens if it is discarded and you have a full field though?

By the way, in the table you have the upped's atk/hp as 5/5, though the upped card says 4/4.

the second ability is meant to be just fluff, the autocast is the main feature on this and the other card i made.  full field? i guess it would just be discarded.

isnt that worse?  with the way i have it now, it has a chance to get stronger.  or do you mean permenantly gain the ability?  dont like that as much... how about if i make the random creature part include mutants? i like the changing into different creatures every other round, think it could make for interesting combos, like getting a good card with the ability and fractal / PUing it.

Perhaps for wanting to use the ability in the same turn you could have Illusion be an ability that doesn't lose refresh when cast akin to how photosynthesis works if you use it once and then change it via mutation. The new ability probably won't have the similar effect so it would also be usable once.

hmm thats a decent option, doesnt even require changing the card text.  not sure its actually possible code wise though...

How about if its ability is  : return figment to your hand. This would allow you to cure poison, heal, and remove status effects if you have a full hand.
