ART: OdinVanguard IDEA: AD TienzuStorm (with inspiration and help from chat) NOTES: Idea of switching from normal damage to spell damage. Charge is meant to be in the sense of "charging a battery" in case of confusion about thematics. A clearer ability name would be nice. I'm not sure how to balance Other weapons (or Other in general), so if this is broken, that's pretty cool. Halp. CHANGES: - Changed upped cost from 5 to 4 - Made the ability permanently switch damage to spell damage

It's cheap for 5|7 damage. I'd say it's price should be comparable to OE|EE (5 |6 ) due to doing same damage and having active ability, so it should be at least 6 |6 in my opinion

While this is easily played with Nova/Snova, you still have to compare it to Titan. It has nothing in common with OE and will be played mostly in Cremation/Nova rushes. Animates optional, but it's a good alternative to Gavel if you choose to focus your deck on it. MA can also utilize it, of course, or any deck that needs a bit of shield bypass and can't afford to commit to it (Life, Light, etc.).

Titan is 5 for 7 and 5 for 8, but Momentum is better than spell damage. The cost is in line with Titan, so it's perfectly fine.

1st: Is the ability name fine?

Charge is meant to be in the sense of "charging a battery" in case of confusion about thematics. A clearer ability name would be nice.

2nd: Should it maybe get a little +1|+0 the turns it uses spell damage (see Paladin already in Cygnia)?

3rd: Is this thing even useful like I made it due to a random burst of ideas in chat, but now I'm starting to doubt that it even fills a niche.

openEtG has a similar weapon, although it was implemented to be more like Hammer and Bow. The spell damage was automatic, it did a bit less damage and got a bonus from users who had a or mark I believe.

Yes and no. To base a deck on a card, the card has to be powerful enough to warrant it. The ones based on Gavel are strictly worse than Cremation rushes while decks based on this weapon can allow for something that not all decks have: shield bypass. As such it's noticeably better than Gavel, though it suffers from the card advantage loss that Animate Weapon incurs. That's why it remains best as a simple addition to a rush that needs some shield bypass to increase its winrate.

With that in mind, I think it'd deserve a cost buff where the ability is one-time use and the effect permanent, much like lycanthrope. That would both let you add some cheap Aether cards in a simple mark splash deck and make it noticeably better in a nova rush.

Would've made the Charge wording better to match Lycan, but not enough room I think. Unless I break from the standard weapon text. Which I guess I could. But bleh.

Can't use "Deal spell damage, permanently", otherwise it won't fit, but this is good enough, I guess?

The damage output is still a little too high on the unupgraded version I think.

Keep in mind nobody ever uses the unupped Other weapons. They should be buffed, and so I wouldn't nerf this Staff either.
