ART: fotosynthesis, modified by agentflare IDEA: Malebolgia NOTES: It does stack, at the cost of a lot of Gravity quanta per turn, so it doesn't become ultimate late-game when multiple are out.  Originally had it cost 5|4, but decided to make it cheaper for faster first use, but also an upkeep to balance the overall effect.  Comparable to Flooding | Inundation for cost/upkeep.  Idea is also from my Graviton Scorpion's special venom type, simplified into a permanent card.  Does not include pillars/pendulums/marks, but does include free cards like spark and nova.  Due to strong synergy with Black Hole, it might be best to consider this a replacement idea than simply a new idea. Good idea and fits the element. I do think no pillar/pendulums should have an increased cost. Also I think an increased cost and stacking would be more fun

I like this idea. Simple and interesting effect that fits perfectly to . Exceptions like "does not include pillars" are kind of lame though. I was thinking if it should only target creatures (with a small buff of course) but that might make it too situational.

It had a slight intention of being able to manually nerf several strategies that love to spam cards, like heavy reliance on instant quanta or Fractal creatures.  It cuts Supernova off BEFORE everything is played out, since Black Hole had the problem of being on the reactive side.

I believe that pillars should be left alone, but I think the rest is fair game.  Restricting pillars unless there ever is a type of special pillar, like a dual producer, seems OP, and as a general mechanic would become UP by the time the pillar part was balanced.

Opinion: Pillars: Doesn't effect. Pendulums: Up for debate. Nova, free creatures: Does effect.
They're creatures. They can be shackled.

With a name like Encumber, the card makes more thematic sense to work only on creatures, but having it work on spells would be fair.  It would put a real damper on decks that splash elements or rely on novas and stuff like that, which is good.

It should not work on pillars/pends/marks, because otherwise this on turn 1 = win.

The encumbrance could be on the elemental him or herself, making it more difficult for him to manipulate the quanta thus the additional cost.
