I think the reason Gnome Rider isn't used is that it takes up a spot in your deck, a spot that's always better occupied by something else.  Many people doubt the use of Antlion for the same reason, though with its ability to burrow, that has some use.  Gemfinder synergizes well with Stone Skin and escapes Earthquake, but Rider is just a wasted slot in an element with much more effective creatures.

A cost of 2 :earth would mandate comparable pre-doubling stats to Antlion, which starts 2|3 and becomes 4|4.  But reaching 8|8 with only 3 :earth is unbalanced.  "Minute" adjustments are pretty rocky when you're talking about low-cost stuff... we're talking about a 100% cost increase here, while bumping the cost of something from 8 to 9 means only a 12.5% increase.  The cost-to-damage ratio changes dramatically.

I underlined the only thing I disagree with. Pre-doubling cost and stats do not need to compare, only post doubling.
This will be combined with buffs. So 2 :earth for 2|3 seems well balanced (even by theory)

I read this at first and thought skill was reusable. Lava golem on speed ???
Seems like a pretty interesting card, almost like a deja vu, but better/worse depending on the situation.

One thing though: are you sure :earth is the best spot for a creature like this?

Either Earth or Gravity - the theme fits both, and both tend to like resilient creatures.

I don't know if this has been said, but Dood check the source of you card's pic because I'm almost sure that this is the Troll pic from Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual 3.5, a Wizard of the Coast trademark.

im thinking, a little off topic, but a subtle nerf would be to make the ability cost  :entropy and randomly double its health or hp twice, so it could double both stats, or quadruple either one... like? Not like?

I don't have access to that book, and the site I got the image from doesn't provide copyright information.  So I have no idea how to verify this.

UGH.  This sort of thing has been happening a lot lately... guess I need to learn to draw again!  Interesting to note the URL I put in the table has since become a 404, a dead link.  Wonder if WotC got on National Lampoon's case about it?

EDIT: Moderators, please note that a forum glitch is preventing me from removing the copyrighted art!  I click Modify, then delete the image links, and it gives me an error saying there's no text in the message body - even though it's full of the card idea table and such.

Actually, if you put a made-up image address there you can bypass that.  Try putting this in:

Code: [Select]
www.noimagefornow.png
However I believe the curators will allow the card image to stay for the time being, so I don't think you need to remove the image until you actually change it.
